Until a couple of months ago, I had a "gik" I met in a bar in Patpong....talking about food & manners, this girl really suprised me with her almost perfect manners at the table.....I mean, this girl can eat like a princess!
I always wondered how did she manage to learn such good ways....typical isaan farmer but she was like at home at the Oriental Hotel or at Scirocco....amazing Thailand....

hi Guys
taken a few girls to Mango Tree a few times,
never had any issues there, did get a few strange looks on the amount of food we had on the table, 3 guys and 3 girls with enough food for about 10 people...
the funny thing was that the girls only ordered a few thing, but being men who like food we had loads !!!
not a single bit was wasted.....

I've taken many BG to Burger King and never once any "funny" looks.
For the most part BG don't want to go to fancy joints and eat food they don't like. They prefer food courts or carts.

Noknoy loved Big C and suki restaurants. I would always take her to the nice sukioutdoor rest. in Buriram. Not only was I twice her age, but I am always the only farang.
I once took her to the Big C MK in Lopburi. This place was full of happy Thai families and happily married Thai couples (yes, right). Noknoy was wearing her hking shorts and sleeveless blouse. She eat like she had not eaten in ages and she had a big smile. Everybody was staring. The women had icy daggers and the men had a straight-faced mixture of resentment and admiration, esp with thier bitchy overweight wives.
This really turned Noknoy on. When we got back to our 250bht love shack she f***ed like a wild monkey!!!!
Nobody watched!!!!

I know you never pass up a chance to flame Amereka or Amerikans, but HJ, his post about Burger King was probably tongue-in-cheek.
But actually, the BG would probably feel more comfortable in Burger King than that fancy Thai restaurant that you take her to 'treat her' to a good meal.
And I don't mean 'you' as in HJ, I know you would never embarrass a BG by bringing her to the restaurant at the Oriental Hotel - besides, the chef there was trained in Amereka, so I'm sure the food sucks.

My reply was very tongue in cheek too.
I don't always flame Americans at all. I like most Americans and have been over there on holiday to Florida twice (Orlando & Fort Myers/ Sanibel) Los Angeles, Seattle and all 6 New England States. If you look at any criticisms I have raised in the past, most have been about Junk Food. Why would your nation consider it something to be that proud of?
I just don't think that having foreign junk food outlets is necessarliy a sign of civilisation in a country. Perhaps it could be debated that it is quite the opposite, when the national cuisine in a country like Thailand is far superior to that of most Western countries except possibly Italy and France. And Italian cuisine borrowed much from Oriental ciusine from the times of Marco Polo and French cuisine borrowed heavily from Italian since Napoleonic times.
When I first met my Thai Girlfriend, we went to the Shangri-La Hotel and dined at the Salathip Restaurant there with her brother and his wife.
He had booked it for us, but needless to say, the tab was down to me. I often wonder whether him booking the first meal there was a reflection on how he assessed me, or whether it was to be used in my assessment of him and his sister. It doesn't matter either way, as it was a memorable experience and the 7000 bt for 4 was only slightly more than I would pay for dinner for two at a half decent restaurant in Blighty.
I've taken BGs to decent Restaurants in Phuket, Samui, Bangkok, Chiang Mai, etc. There's never been any problem so long as they can eat Thai food. Perhaps I've been lucky and only go with BGs who are a bit more sophisticated than some others. When they're out of the bar, they appear to dress fairly conservatively and are usually not tattooed or with piercings and maybe these girls are used to being taken to decent restaurants.
