Hamburgers as WE know them ???
The hamburgers that I know always have beet-root inside and NEVER has those horrible pickle things, so I guess Australia invented the burger as I know it,,,LOL.
I'll give the original invention to the Mongels.
Pizza Italian,, perhaps but I'll go with the Babylonians.
Back on topic,,,I guess I'm having some small influence on the Isaan area,, we have purchased land and starting to build a style of Aquaculture never dreamed of by the Isaan people. It's taken a while for them to get use to someone NOT just growing rice !!! Not to mention perimeter security lights and locked gates to keep the neighbours out ( electric fences are being thought about). The house to be built will be to Aus / Euro standards,, yep the wires and pipes go IN the walls NOT pasted on the inside.
Hopefully these extreme changes away from rice will stay around as my son grows and takes over. Being half Thai perhaps he has half a chance.
Oh the shock the horror that change brings to the faces of my Isaan neighbours,,no more throwing seeds on the sandy unfertile soil and HOPING things grow,, a test bed of half a Rai was ploughed up, a huge amount of coconut coir was added ( it's free) and a crop of legumes ( seed is free from Thai gov) was planted and ploughed back in,,, surprise, surprise the land now grows healthy vegetables,, ahh the wonders of modern science ( actually just common sense).
I guess it will take a few centuries before extensive change occurs but as the Europeans, the Americans and the Aussies bring their ideas and hard currency to back it up with, change will happen.

Ground or minced beef on a bun is an American invention. Pizza is Neapolitan in the form we generally eat today.
Both have earlier origins but in different forms. It's a bit like the english language, it is spoken in a unique fashion in 'merica and Oz but neither can claim it historically.

Minced Beef on a bun is NOT a Hamburger,, where is the onions,cheese,, egg, salad,,pine-apple, beetroot ?????? Jack have you ever tasted a REAL burger???
What you describe is a ground beef sandwich, nothing like a true Hamburger.,,, this leads us to the invention of the Sandwich which must surely lay with the UK.
