Can quite sympathise with Lofty's friend. This is a perilous state of loss any man caught unawares can get into. And I am speaking from personal experience. Despite all my professing to myself that I could never really 'fall into a relationship' with a TG, given my generally 'careful treading,' I found myself swept away by a tide of unanticipated turn of events -- all in the space of a few hours one night in Bangkok.
I met Nok in the lobby of the hotel I was staying in. She worked at the bar and that evening was sitting alone in a corner sofa sipping a drink and smoking since there were no customers at the bar. I had not seen her before. As I waited for the elevator I cast a glance in her direction and our eyes instantly locked. I felt drawn by her quick easy smile from behind all that smoke. Before I knew what was happening I was at her table asking if she wanted another drink. It was about 7 pm. We drank and chatted till about 11 pm in that near empty lobby while her friends at the bar co-operated by leaving us alone. Her duty hours were over
now and she agreed to my suggestion that we hit the bars in NEP. She was excited as she had always wanted to see what goes on in NEP. Sure, be my guest.
We hit Pretty Lady, where she laughed and screamed in round-eyed shock and disbelief. Several toasts of tequila went round as girls swarmed around us and Nok had the time of her life. Eventually she picked a girl from among them and the three of us went out. Nok hailed a cab and we were soon in a Thai karaoke bar some distance away. In my half drunk state I remembered nothing of the location. But I remember there was great enjoyment for Nok at the karaoke and I was truly happy seeing her enjoy with the companion like 2 girls having a fun night out.
By 3 am we decided to leave and on the way out I requested her to wait as I headed for the loo. A minute later I emerged and Nok was gone. The companion was there. But no sign of Nok. As I searched frantically the girl from the bar, not able to communicate in English, finally managed to convey to me that Nok had gone home. What?!
The angel from the bar was sweet, of course. She held me by the elbow, got into a cab with me and took me to the hotel, and then enquired if I wanted her for the night with me. Being full of Nok and the hurt of her sudden disappearance, I declined. Angel left and I was alone again, hurting, fuming and going back and forth over the turn of events since 7 pm, wondering what I had done wrong to be ditched thus. Nok had switched her mobile off.
Now I was really wanting her and she was not to be located.
It took me a few depressed hours until daybreak to realise what a fool I had been letting myself get swept away by a stranger girl like some stupid love-struck greenhorn. I was checking out that morning and what a way to go! Luckily at around 9 am she finally answered the phone. She agreed to come down to the hotel and meet me briefly. When I asked her why she left so suddenly she was quite nonchalant : 'it was late.'
Maybe that helped me to finally get both feet on the ground and realise this is what it boiled down to. It still took me a week to get over it after I returned home.
Lofty's friend was not so lucky.

it was a irl he had visited several times over a few trips even going to her home with her.
but they had a tiff and parted ways... now he can not get her out of his mind.
He has even thought about visiting her parents but is scared to turn up in case she is there with a husband etc.. also he does not speak ant Thai so converssing with the parents would be difficult,, if indeed they were still there.

Stinging story, Kaymanx. The kind of thing, you just have to grin and bear it. I wouldn't blame you if the good memories of the night would even got jaundiced for a while by her nonchalant (and impolite) jilting of you. But I guess that's some of the danger of love. Reminds me of various meetings with people I've had throughout life, full of surprises...
Lofty's friend is in a fix. The area code to her province should be easy to get off the internet. But asking the fat mamasan might be better. Yipes.

Seajohn, I count myself really fortunate because I came out of that depression in about 7-10 days. Still an achievement. Love? The four hours of chat we had at the bar sure set up a romantic night for us and we were really like lovers as she hung on my sleeve throughout the Pretty Lady riot. So I can pretty much feel what Lofty's pal is going through. These girls are sweet little thieves, robbing hearts with skill.
