I have recently visited the 'big tiger' prison here in Bangkok. It was a very scary experience, since one of my closer friends is currently doing time there for being caught with an underage girl.
Imagine a stone room, reeking with mold, a small 20 inch barred hole, no bed, no table, just some rodden straw. There is a hole in the floor where you piss and take your dump. And off course you share this sweet with at least 2 other guys. Not my venue of sanook.
As I mentioned before, the topic of Underage girls is a touchy one, like kman I like em under 20 too, and the line there is thin, and one has to be exceptionally carefull.
As to my official public opinion, and this is especially for those of you who only come to LOS for short periods of time, stick to the legal age of 21, because if you are caught and you don't have +/- 50k THB cash handy, your ass is grass.

PS: two hotels that tip of the police for commision if they suspect underage girls (confirmed) are, Premier Travel Lodge, on Suk Soi 8. and Stable Lodge Inn also on Suk Soi 8. Be careful when staying there.

One reason I didn't pay much attention the first time is that, while I enjoy the porn, I personally like women to be about 25-30 so that they have some experience and know what they like. When we speak of teenagers (which technically is not pedophilia) it can be ambiguous. Many fashion models that we might lust after are as young as 14 or 15, Britney Spears et al were teenagers when they began and guys lust after them. There are movie/TV stars and pop stars that have turned men on before they were at the age of consent . I know that I always thought Anna Kournikova was hot -- even when it would have been illegal for me to do what I wanted to.
Plese read my post carefully before you call me a sick child molester or an apologist for those who are. Just remember that for a very long time, throughout the world, post pubescence meant you were a woman ready to have intercourse. Of course that was a less enlightened time and sex was deemed to be for procreation only, but it illustrates that to some degree it's a matter of context.
BTW Suua: Are you saying that older guys who are fathers don't like young girls? Think about it. How many exceptions to that have you seen?

Someone said chose a female 21 years old. I would have to agree to say that if you want to be safe and give yourself some room for error, then 21 is a safe age. Especially, since the Thai culture does not always follow the western ways of calculating age.

What seubeu was saying was clearly just a generalization, but while there are many idiots who have children, could they really be considered a "father" if they didn't at least think twice about screwing someone the same age? (Sometimes even I can't tell when I'm being serious or not.)
Lots of guys have, IMO, ridiculous rules about the age of women they will sleep with. Some guys can't sleep with anyone younger than their daughters, some have a limit at the age of their younger sisters. For some it's a fixed number (e.g. 10 years younger). It is certainly understandable that people have associations and images in their brain that are hard to break, but it's unfortunate that it prevents them from having a good time.

While we're on the subject...
Does anyone else who reads the Thai bulletin boards (or speaks with Thai people on the subject) find it disconcerting that they often use the word "dek" to describe the MP girls. I always translate that word as "kid" or "child" first and thus it throws me.
Maybe some non-English speakers have the same issue when we use the word "girls."
