I just returned Monday from Bkk & used 2 hotels while there- both guest friendly & have websites that you can book on line.
the hotels are Majestic Suites & Grand President Hotel. They both were excellent values at either end of the $$ sprectrum. The Majestic was $25us per night & included breakfast & tax. American breakfast was excellent- coffee was great. The rest of the food for lunch & dinner is really good & cheap. The superior room is a bit small but for a few bucks more you can get a larger room. Excellent location just around the corner from NEP , Angel disco & Grace coffee shop. Across the street & a few blocks down from Eden club. Its a half a block to skytrain Nana station which you can take to Siam station a few stops down, where Siam Novotel Cm2 is located- something like 40cents & beat all the traffic. Its a small hotel with only 40 rooms but only 3 years old. It is immaculately clean & the staff is extremely friendly. I liked it a lot & will stay there again , if i can get a reservation.
On my return from Pattaya I could not get the majestic because it was full. My fellow monger likes more upscale & stays at the Grand President just a few blocks down on soi 11. So I decided to stay there to see what it was like. it was full too but they had a 1 bedroom suite left for $62us including tax but no breakfast. It was a hell of a bargain for what it was. could have had an orgy party there. It too was immaculately clean but just on the other end of the $$ sprectrum. They have regular rooms for a little more than the Majestic suites. This is a large hotel with 3 towers & swimming pool but no breakfast included. I'd stay here again- but not as close to all the action of nana- but closer to soy cowboy, clinton plaza & eden club.

My initial post and question was way back in March 02 I think. I did stay only 2 nights in Novotel Siam Sq, but didn't even bother taking a girl to my room. I thought Grand President was good. Next visit I'm trying Hotel Manhattan & Narai for a change of area.
