nazimhikmet,

Looks like you stumbled onto a real conundrum. I think you have a tough situation, but the thing that stands out in my mind is her willingness to support you when you had no money. Other members of this forum have experienced similar kindness, and in those cases, the ladies really were trying to do the right thing. It goes against the stereotypes.

Personally, I always take everything with a grain of salt, maybe that's why I'm still with my TGF. The high income potential from the scene is always a draw. Here's one such example from a recent situation with my TGF:

My TGF's cousin decided to go back to "work" after spending some time being sponsored by an American guy. She started making good money immediately (she's cute and affable and was BF'd most nights). So she bought a VCD/CD/DVD player. Of course, she has no place to use it, so she brought it by my TGF's apartment and they played VCD's well into the night. Then the player went into the box, where it will stay until Songkran (she is taking it home to give to her mom).

So here's the irony: my TGF calls me and we talk about this. Turns out she's jealous because her cousin's VCD player is brand new and shiny. My TGF was obviously thinking about the material rewards of returning to "the business." So we talked for awhile, I asked her a bunch of questions to point out to her that: 1) she has a VCD player that is of better quality already; 2) her VCD player is only 6 months old; 3) her mom already has a VCD player; 4) there is a difference between shortterm gains and longterm profits, so to speak. (BTW, she took this opportunity to point out that her mom doesn't have "machine to wash clothes" ha! )

After all was said and done, she thought about it for a few days and sent me an email. She admitted to still being jealous of her cousin's VCD, but understanding that we are in this for the long haul. I will quote her directly (I don't normally do this, as I respect her privacy) because she is quite sincere when she says this:

"I somtime feel jealousy friends at [club they work at]. but i know. I get thing is most value than them get. because I have a teelak is really love me. and worry about me (mark mark) and I really love him too."

The email also talks about some longer term goals we both have. I've found that the best way to deal with issues like this is to simply ask her questions and let her try to answer. Preaching at her doesn't work: she simply says yes and then goes off and does what she wants to do anyway. The key is getting her to engage her mind and begin questioning what she is doing and then letting her come up with answers she is comfortable acting upon.

I know the situation with your lady is quite different than mine, but I toss in this anecdote as a hopeful reminder that these ladies, as they get older, do want security for the longer haul, and it takes constant assurances to let them know you won't abandon that mutual dream. Especially if you can't be there in person all the time.
