Think basically Isarn - being a poorer region, the girls have less chance to get a better ediucation/job and to mix in better [ dare i say away from farangs!] circles, also, from their nature, I find them by and large the typical, easy going Thai - and thus not only their looks, but their attitude makes them popular with Western guys, whereas more often than not, others, particularly from the North [Chiang mai-Chiang rai etc.] - seem much more money orientated, are more aware of their good looks, and what it can do for them ... - whereas the isarn girl knows her choice of a husband, owing to her status in Thai society, is often a toss up between the local Samlor driver - or a wealthy farang ....

Personally I prefer non Isaan girls both in looks and in character.
Although this is a generalisation i think that the non Isaan girls do not try to bullshit you so much about being in love and you handsome man etc etc
I agree with Phantom that the non Isaan type are readily available if approached correctly and would in many cases make better partners than the Isaan girls.

Isaan girls are not necessarily dark. I have met many fair skinned ones. If you want dark skinned ones, head down south. In fact, if you asked any Thai, they will tell you that majority of the dark skinned girls come from the South.

Very true indeed.
However I find the prejudice the Bangkok lothave is against Dark Skinned Isaan girls.
They don't like Isaan to start with and know they can further discriminate on that score. I've mentioned the southerners (I'm close to many) and they say...Aaahh the the Southerners are meant to be dark and it is acceptable....
Go Figure.

The P4Play BG are very very good at telling us what we want to hear. Doesn't matter where they are from. I've had my share of starfish from all regions. I'm experiencing the Thai GFE with a BG from Korat and it's everthing it's cracked up to be.
My advice for the short time vactioner. Stay away from normal Thai girls. All you will acomplish is wasting your valueable time reaching for almost the unobtainable.

Phantom - you just dropped off the ratings in my book - who are you to call the majority of Thais [ From Issarn ] disgusting ??? Most of Thai Rak Thai MPs, a number of whom I know, are far from disgusting, and from Issarn, as are the majority of Thai Super stars in the movie and sports world. The biggest scams/cons I have come across in my time, have been run by so called "Hi-So" Bangkok women - As to hospitality, Issarn and Southern would both leave the so called better class Bangkok and Northern money grabbers in the dust - Your knowledge of genuine Thais is obviously miniscule-

I'd have thought that most BGs from other parts of Thailand also belong to the lower-classes (and should certainly not be confused with HiSo girls), although there seems to be carte-blanche for other Thais to look down on people from Isaan. Maybe TPE or someone equally au fait with local attitudes can confirm, but the impression I get is that Isaanites play roughly the same role as the Irish did in Britain.
So far as farang tastes are concerned, I suppose most of us (not PhantomV, of course) judge on an individual basis and aren't too fussed where the girls come from. Inevitably, most of the BGs we go with will be from Isaan, but that's just because they dominate the scene.
As it happens, the three 'best' BGs I've ever had (combination of looks & attitude) have been from the south. This may just be a random accident, but I do wish southern girls were a bit thicker on the ground. I've had several disappointments from Chiang Mai and only one clear success, and now tend to be a bit wary of girls from the north. I've generally found Bankokians & other girls from the central provinces to be OK - at least, not much different on average from those from Isaan. Probably true that Isaan girls are generally more happy-go-lucky, but then the personality range among BGs is quite wide in any case, so individual factors can easily override.

I think that nowadays BK gave the only answer that explain Caronte's numbers... more girls from Isaarn = more favourites for farangs.
There was a time in which you could recognise girls from Isaarn at first glance: their long thick blue/black hair, their clothes and their shy/sweet eyes.
They were working in bars seasonly, because they were working in rise fields the rest of the time and didn't have the time to get used to Bkk hardness as it would be living there full time.
In the last ten years, thai society changed drastically, and now many Isaarn girls are permanent workers, cut their hair, change diet and so on, but still have their countryside roots which make them look more sweet & exotic to those farangs who comes from big cities...
