I can see where you are going.
and agree that is our values that a lot of thai fellows dont like .
I gave my tgf the keys to the the hotel room. this gave her a value of TRUST.the reception clerk ,couldn't for life of her see why a farang should give her the key unless he was bloody stupid. she would look at me in amazement but, she had to smile when she took the keys from her.
On the return it was comical , she would look at me, and I would smile, she would then stride up to the recepyion desk , and ask for the key ,IROFLMAO the look on the chaps face was a picture, he like you are thinking could not grasp that a Thai women should be allowed at the counter never mind have a key.
In the end I told them it was her room.
So I conclude in saying ,If they havn't got it lets teach them a few graces.
my Gf thinks the sun shines out my arse !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
of course I wouldn't do it for anyone else.

I try where appropriate to live by the "when in Rome do as the Romans do", but, when "what the Roman's do" goes totally against my own values and beliefs, then I say "to hell with the Romans" and I do my own thing.
Just because Thai men treat Thai prostitutes in a certain way, does not make it right, and does not mean everyone else has to.
Have you seen the way Thai stall owners treat some of the kittens and puppies at Chatuchak market??? Ý I won't complain about it or cause a fuss, it's after all their country ... but I don't think ALL examples of Thai behaviour, or way of doing things should be carried over by farangs.

I think it's a bit more complicated than that, and also depends on how the girl carries herself as well. I've seen a lot of BG's and former BG's doing stuff with their customers and b/f's that my TGF would never do in public. In another thread (don't remember where), we were treated differently than the other farang/BG couples on Koh Chang. If you can find it, makes for an interesting/quick read. But in general, classism rules.

Firstly I don't have an abusive personality. Being from the USDA, we treat people better than we treat our meat. If someone is kind to your face it is obvious that you be kind to thier face. We do not need to look into why that person does what they do. WE will interpret it from our perspective. You would have to spend many years in Thailand to learn all the ideosyncracies of different thai social classes. Do not put too much faith in a simple blurb copied from another newsgroup. Yes I have read that elsewhere also. If I lived in Thailand over time I would develop thai ways. As a tourist I treat people as I would in USA.
concerning HS, if you had read more of his posts you would know where he stands on how to treat people. He did mention good manners. Maybe then his post would have made more sense to you. What do you consider good mannners? What is so unintelligible in his post?

Good to hear you wade in. I thought you would respond accordingly. But, take a look at the postings, and you will see that I am not picking... I am responding. Rez is hardly a senior member, and H.S. while I have seen some respectable posts.... I cannot remember the last time a thread was started by H.S. So, aside from offering his opine from LOS, he needs to act like a senior member, and menor, not bully. As far a Smegma.... same same....
