but i think there is Isaan and Isaan.
the region is pretty large and the southern half is quite populous with many large towns and (i think) industries.
where my girl came from was sparsely populated and nothing but rice fields as far as the eye could see.
we travelled back to BKK by bus and for the first 4 hours(at least),all i saw were women in the fields.
she used to work in the fields when she went home and she got a lot darker then.
MG is from the southern part of Isaan,so maybe no reason to be out in the sun allday.
these are only my thoughts and obversations and if i'm 100% wrong,then hopefully some of our LOS residents can post better info.

well if chiang mai is los 2nd largest town, how large are number 3 downwards gonna be? as far as I am informed the industries in isaan region are more or less agricultural focused, and due to economic changes, theres a lot of restructuring = lot of people loose or lost their jobs to machines, the region itself is very populous but that only worsens the problem and drives more girls to bkk, good for us

this to me is a moot point.
what or where is Isaan?.
in my eyes i always thought of it as North and East or BKK.
places like:-
Nakhon Ratchasima
Buriram
Surin
Yasothon
Roi Et
Khon Kaen
Udon Thani
Chiang Mai and Rai are in the North West.
do they equate to Isaan?.
as i said before,i do not know for sure.
hopefully someone will come up with the ultimate answer.
i've been with many girls and all came from NE of BKK and i consider them as Isaan girls.
the one exception was from Chaing Rai,but she was Burmese by birth anyway.

sorry, I was trying to state that there are not really any "larger" towns besides this one bkk, chiang mai, of course not in isaan, is los second largest town, and it is small.

first of all isaan is the region in the northeast and east of thailand. don't tell the northern light skinned girls that they from isaan - they will kill you for that as they are proud of being regarded as the most beuatiful woman in thailand compared to the isaan girls which are close to animals in thai thinking!
the north of bangkok is regarded as the home land of the thais and their culture, so central thailand with cities like sukhothai, ayuthaya etc. are well regarded in contrast to southern (malayan border, all the islands also dark skinned) and estearn people.
the second most populated city in thailand is korat (nakhon ratchasima) as far as i know and then as nr. 3 chinag mai and others like udon, khon khaen etc.

As far as I can tell this info is correct that's been posted. Personaly I think all those Issan girls and people should put a rice imbargo on, and see how the high and mighty white skin fair afterwards.
Really though, I thought they were just down in Bkk coz the their water buffalo died, and Papa fell down drunk at a fam. party and broke his molar tooth 555 !!!!

i've found most of them are quite proud of being Isaan girls.
we know and they know they are looked down upon by other (more better classed thai's,so they like to think).
any SEA girl is fine for me,and Isaan girls are the best.
i find they are very down to earth and fun to be with.
also an ice breaker.
we get the 20 questions,but i ask them where they come from and when i hear,i just say 'good,you are from Isaan' and they like the fact that i know a bit of the country and ask if i have ever been.
we then get chatting about all sorts of things.
has anyone read books by Pira Sudham?.
