As I know,
Mostly Thai woman not even care with your nationality. Unless she will have serious relationship with you then she will asking you details even about your country. Many times booking bargirl no one care with my nationality either I told them fake stories that I am singaporean citizen tourist nor as expat that stay in BKK even as upcountry person.
Sometimes they do believe I am Thai person if I speak in full aksen Thais all the conversation. But for what, they even don't care as long as you give them good tip and have good manner / attitude. Only once a woman interest with my nationality, and she is not Bargirl but working girl in BKK.

My experience, at least what the girls have told me, is that dark skin is their biggest turn off. Not surprising since that is the judge of beauty in LOS. Many I've talked to claim they want nothing to do with Arabs or black people. This is certainly not true across the board, can't even say if it is majority opinion or not. All I can say is that most girls that have an opinion conform to this norm.
I have personally witnessed Indians denied admission to bars, signs that prohibit Arab customers and many a dark skinned guy getting the cold shoulder when the atmosphere in a bar is otherwise hopping. Probably different when customers are in short supply.
But other guidelines posted here are good rules of thumb. Particularly the one about smelling good.

How can dark skinned women be turned off by dark skinned men? Sounds a bit weird.
Having said that thai women are as prejudiced as any other nationality. But like the others mentioned, it's got a lot to do with an unsavoury experience with a certain nationality. Simple discrimination from a bunch of simple girls.

A lot of the girls don't like their own dark skin at all - useless trying to convince them that their skin tone is beautiful, and something that many farangs will endure a great deal of expense, boredom and sunburn to acquire. You might as well try to convince a farang woman that her fat bum is a good thing and something she should be proud of.
White skin good, dark skin bad, seems to be pretty deeply entrenched in LOS - & not just with the BGs, of course. A good Thai friend of mind turns up his nose at dark-skinned girls, though he's from the deep South and quite a lot darker than the BKK norm himself. He wants fair-skinned Northern girls. Blondes send him into ecstacies - just can't believe me when I say I find most of them insipid and thoroughly uninteresting.
I suppose, on the beaten oppressor principle, anyone darker than they are... Bit like the fat bloke who wants to sleep with slim women, and takes a dim view of anyone even fatter than he is.
