True. Smeg should have been more specific than "mia noi." A lot of times, the mia noi is treated better than the mia luang. I do believe the trend is towards discretion as opposed to the "open" relationship though.
Farang wives are a lot less likely -by both choice and capability- to want to maintain a nuclear family.

Ok sorry to make so many posts on this subject but it is close to my heart... been there, done it, signed the divorce papers.
The 'Dont' responses are much easier said than done. I mean if you want some really sensible 'Dont' advice it is this. If you are a farang with a farang wife DONT come to live in Bangkok if you want to keep your marriage together. Of course I am not going to kick any of these girls out of my bed if they decide to jump into it with me. But as a married guy, what I missed most is the "chase" of a beautiful woman. The psychological warfare you have to deal out to tame a wild beautiful woman. As someone that enjoys the chase (nearly) as much as the capture I sympathise but in that case your initial "I am not going to be sleeping with them" post is BS.. If you get the chance you are good to go so thats the risk you face..
Personally until I have any physical contact or come on I dont consider talking, chatting, flirting, etc too far wrong.. Then again I was off the market for a long time and enjoyed a good flirt as a way of keeping the skills honed.. Ok, I must admit that English is not my first language. So I apologize if there is some confusion over my first post. The exact phrase in my initial post is “I do not expect to be able to fool around with them in bed” NOT, I repeat NOT “I am not going to”, or “I do not want to”, or “I will not”, or “I shall not”, or “I will never ever ever”. The phrase again is “I do not expect to be able to”….someone (English teacher preferably) please verify that me write English good here.
