You will get sob stories quite often if you are obviously susceptible to them. If you want to think that life as a Thai BG must be one of unrelenting misery and exploitation, then - as always - you will have no difficulty finding girls who will tell what you want to hear. Experienced BGs will have your basic attitude taped in about 2 minutes flat.
Slashed wrists are quite common. The girls' background often includes a busted engagement or marriage upcountry, which was no doubt a very traumatic event for them, and Thais who lose control are capable of practically anything. The marks you can see seldom indicate any serious intent to kill, and many girls have them surgically removed when they can afford it.
No doubt there ARE genuinely suicidal BGs around - but far fewer, I would think, than those who make this part of their repertoire. A good question to ask yourself is why are they telling YOU all this? Do you believe they are friendless?

For the guy who's a two week vacationer, change your phone number as these girls have serious problems that you can't help with.
The reason she will call you basically a stranger, all her friends are burnt out listening to her endless calls.
When I run across a BG with cut marks. I finish my drink, pay the check and don't go back to that bar.
I realize this sounds harsh but I'm not a white knight on a rescue mission. I'm just a horny guy looking to get laid.
