I for one I have been burned so many times that I am covered in scorch marks - I have only returned from my last trip 48 hrs ago and still smell distinctly of smoke. My only regret is the amount of time I will now have to wait before I can get back to LOS and give it another shot.

Absolutely and completely right. The rest of us can yak away until we're blue in the face, but as far as you're concerned it's just hearsay. You DO need to experience this stuff for yourself.
You said before that the 'possibility' is there. Yes it is, but in reality only the most naive of BGs will allow themselves to fall in love on a brief first encounter, and the reason is very simple - they know there's a very good chance they'll never see you again. BGs certainly do fall in love, and get hurt, and over time this can take quite a toll on them. The nice ones, who want to avert the 'black heart', tend to discipline themselves accordingly.
If you return, and thereby exhibit a sustained interest, matters may be rather different. You came back once; it's not such a long shot that you'll come back again. Maybe she'll then be more inclined to invest some emotional capital in you rather than just the price of a barfine or two.
My own experience has been that relationships with BGs often move onto a higher plane from the second encounter onwards. Sometimes its a smooth progression; sometimes there's a very marked 'jump'.
Fwiw, I wholly disagree with the contention that permanent relationships with BGs (as opposed to 'regular' TGs) are impossible. There are certainly more difficulties to overcome, but with the right attitude (and the right girl) they're not insuperable. I know quite a few people in LOS who have managed to settle down successfully with ex-BGs.

I have to say, in the wash-up, that it is the general opinion, that you need to venture that highway for yourself. I was asked about buddha and its relation to estimating a thai girl. And again have to say its a generalization, but the more they feel accountable to buddha, and demonstate small examples of that belief... (ie go to temples and /or do merits...often it reflects a good family. That is a small indicatior that real values are what they seek. She sounded like a real rather than fake to me. Signs such as crying and going to the airport. I know many girls who would stop work tomorrow for a guy like you, assumming that is what you seem to be. I might offer on the other hand, a cynical piece of observation. That the scar, were it old, could be a scar long done in a ride home from a farang 5 years past, (example of how long she has worked) she saw you as fresh meat, and an easy mark, for sponsership. And right now, you are being told that "'i cannot sleep and miss you"" and your 14th on her boyfriend list and 5th that end up sending. But again I would encourage the path of adventure, romance, (real or imagined) there is a chance she might be a diamond in your arms. But remember she is now in anothers tonight. Pain is not worth the plight, unless you can take that step, and sponser her ( if you like her alot)...only you can tell. And win or loose its your play mate.

As many have said a similar list can be made for USA women. I saw one once that was made to look like a Materials Safety Data List kind of:
