Not surprised some places have sign like that.
Other day saw a 'this hotel is not for TH people' sign : Sawasdee House next to Bangkok Bar on soi Rambutri.
Proposed my GF come on lets check what they do about TH falang mixed couples (as I expected she prefered not to pursue the matter that way).
Are those signs racist ? I think so. Why is it mainstream TH don't seem to mind ? Could it be because mainstream TH might be rather racist themselves ? I think so. Are u surprised about that sociological phenomena knowing that a political party literally called 'TH love TH' democratically elected runs the country ? Hell i'm not. Which no way means I agree. Peace.
Not owned by Muslims AFAIK, most of the area is owned by a couple of Chinese Thais...the problem is/was (again, AFAIK) Israelis coming off national service, heading straight for Thailand and being a little...er...over-enthusiastic and less than respectful of local traditions. It's not a Jewish thing, it's an Israeli thing. Having witnessed some Israelis 'playing up' the signs aren't/weren't that surprising, although there are nowhere near as many of them as there used to be, so it looks like things have cooled down. There are also a few 'Israeli only' places in the area. I've also met several 'refuseniks' in Thailand over the years and they seem quite embarassed by the whole thing.
