Yes, I've had that response from BGs and not wanting to leave it there but wanting to know the truth behind why on earth they would want double, treble or even sometimes quadruple the normal going rate, I would surreptitiously ask another lady in the bar.
The answer that I have usually got is............."because you are an ugly, old bastard."
But having been told by so many that I am young and handsome, I prefer to go with the majority opinion.
I have been told by experienced mongers that every (bar-) girl has her price and it is just a matter of reaching the amount of what she will accept.
But rather than follow the road to bankrupcy, I refuse to go any higher than the going rate and taking a more philosophical viewpoint, I feel sorry for the lady in refusal, because I know just what she will be missing, or think I do.
It's her loss, poor thing.
Never mind.
