Well, 50 fifty cents... Not much experience, but this is my view:
Ask the girl! Talk to her, tell her what you want. She is most likely the BK expert of you two. Then you give her the chance to avoid spots/resturant where she feel out of place.

I never bother taking Thai girls to nice resturaunts. I don't really like Thai food in general, and few Thai girls, whether bgs or not, really like most non Thai foods. It's just almost pointless unless it's a nice Thai resturaunt, and for me personally, expensive Thai food is a waste of time and money.

I don't always flame Americans at all. I like most Americans and have been over there on holiday to Florida twice (Orlando & Fort Myers/ Sanibel) Los Angeles, Seattle and all 6 New England States. If you look at any criticisms I have raised in the past, most have been about Junk Food. Why would your nation consider it something to be that proud of?
I am American and not offended at all. American fast food is being exported to the whole world. How embarrassing.
I am from Massachusetts and I had a co-worker (from Colorado) that thought New England was a state. He was not a dumb guy at all, very technically savvy. I guess he needed to brush up on his geography.
On topic, I had a BG that loved seafood and we went to that seafood market with the giant lobster as often as possible. She was comfortable in any setting it seemed.

I went with a TG to the Mexican place in the Rembrandt and she was fine. She handled a knife & fork perfectly, even had her pinky extended.
Nobody gave her any weird looks but maybe they were focused on the live music...
