Apparently, is Thailand-wide, and the person just needs to go to a non-private hospital for treatment. Should include most accidents and conditions, but does not cover exotic treatments, or exotic conditions. I'd figure an appendix thing would be covered.
In some cases, the registration requirements, and that fact that one needs to be registered to start with, might prevent people from taking advantage of it - it seems that it's hinging on being pre-registered (see above links).

The company you work for specifies a hospital close to them that is your primary hospital and where such things as surgery would be done.
So it is non the home province, but the residential province.
My hospital is the Viphavadee Hospital near Sri Nakarin.

Talking about TG scams, I am trying to locate a Swiss guy whose name I only know as "Thierry".
This guy is in deep shit! Just built a house for TG in Bkk for 18 million baht!! Supports her family too!
And now TG f*** around with new thai BF even when Thierry is around! This poor thai BF is having the time of his life! With the money sponsored by Thierry!
I bet Thierry is in the dark! Poor guy, I really sympathise with him.
I don't know him. If I do, would have recommend him TPE long time ago!
She has no conscience to talk about it! Just figure it out!
I also don't think he will read this thread! He would be forewarned if he knows this FORUM.
Any member who knows this guy email me his contacts.
He is over 40+ yrs and travels to work in China regularly.

It is my believe that the insurance scheme of the company and the 30 baht scheme are 2 different things and have nothing to do with each other.
The insurance scheme is done by the company and indeed the default hospital is near the company (but you're free to go to any approved hospital in Bangkok).
The 30 baht scheme is a government sponsored initiative and the card is issued (like a ID card) at the amphur the house registration mentions.

Hardly a scam - it is all fairly standard practice.
My personal feeling is that most of these guys are not really as stupid as people make out.
They probably have a family back home, but enjoy a little extra when they are in Thailand. Bt20m or Bt40m is not that much to them. If they are that wealthy they are probably smart enough to realise that the average 20+ TG has at least one lover if she is left alone in LOS.

Sorry, you are incorrect on this one, this is nothing to do with company health schemes, this is the 30B government scheme.
You must be registered with one hospital and seeing as the company has to do all the paperwork as it is the people who hand over the money collected in the taxes for this, they can nominate the hospital.
Now of course it maybe possible for the local worker to say that this hospital did not appeal to them, however where I worked all my Thai staff kept this hospital as they said it was good.
I have the card which is called Bat Pragahn Sang Khom. It comes in the form of a credit card type card with name and details and also a cardboard card with the hospital details on it.
Feel free to examine my card next time we meet, or of course I could send you a scan of it if you can't wait that long....

No...I didn't say that...but companies organise it for working people....if you are not working or paying tax feel free to pop along to your local amphur and collect your card.
Oh hell, maybe I should stop making this stuff up, I've not got a card, I'm not on the scheme, God you two are tough work now you've teamed up...

Read in there how it says the provider (the hospital) receives B1200 a year for everyone registered, hence why you have to be registered at one hospital.
Read how it says it is funded patly by the social welfare fund paid for by contributions by employee and employer (much like the UK NHS)
Employers (or specifically my employer) kindly did all the paperwork and collection of cards for us. It also stops the local employees going AWOL for hours upon end 'collecting their cards'
