It really is the whole problem with the P4P scene if you ask me.
I mean we all know these girls are paid to lie but why do we like it? Because we think there might be some truth in there somewhere.
And if you are not lying to the BG there is a very good chance that most people are lying to their wives and girlfriends. There are even some poor guys who lie to themselves enough that they end up marrying these confused girls and then, of course, they get hurt when their dream falls apart.
Thais of course are much more honest in their relationship. They understand that guys find it hard to keep their dick in their pants and they go off to massage parlours to shag the prettiest girl around without any pretence of friendship. I guess that is why the success rate of marriages here is so much higher than in the west.

The success rate of marriage in Thailand is higher due to many factors not least of which is that the men still control society & women are not yet sufficiently empowered to be fully in control of their lives.
As soon as women in the lower & middle classes start earning decent wages then the divorce rate will start to rise.
It may not get up to the UK rate but you can't change a nation's values & culture overnight.

The "success" rate in marriages in Asia is primary because divorce is frowned upon and it brings shame to the family. So men go out and have 2,3,4 or more "mia nois", but will never divorce the "#1" wife. Many used to ( and some still do) marry their "#1" through "arranged" marriage between two equal ( in wealth and social status) families. This does not mean the marriage to the #1 wife is a success. They just do not treat divorce as handily as the westerner. Many family patriach (father if he is still alive) will never permit their sons to get a divorce.

You could be right. But maybe not. There are more women in the Thai workforce than men. Women own and control a lot of the businesses - like Emporium for instance. And anyway I am not really sure that women want equality - afterall many women are very happy nurturing their family and not working 10 hours a day.
A lot of women that I know have very different values to men and reckon those values are better not just equal. I guess divorce rates are rising everywhere.
Of course it helps that Thais - both men and women - can seperate sex from love. The only Thai guy I know who is faithful to his wife, is married to a farang.

I'd agree that Thais certainly don't equate a man having sex with a woman with any western style emotional attachment. Men just need to do that more often than woman - no big deal.
I know one Thai/Farang couple where early in the relationship the now wife mocked the idea that he would not then still be having sex with other women. "I know what men are like" she'd giggle - though she went on to add that if he could keep it to a minimum that would be nice.
She will proudly point out that her father is still a good looking man even at this age and that he was "big butterfly" when younger. No big deal - its just the way men are.
However, I have learnt that it is best to play down any previous "relationships" that you had. A dozen nameless girls from a dozen bars in Pattaya or Patong means nothing. Mention that the girl in the forgotten street-vendor polaroid was "Lek" and watch the "threat radar" start to hum.
Humiliate her or threaten her position and you'll be riding a midnight taxi to the nearest hospital with a towel pressed between your legs. Divorce is not her only option. Enjoy.

I would be interested to know how many of the wives of successful businessmen have a boyfriend on the side because their rich & successful husband is too busy shagging younger models to pay any attention to his wife?
Or is their fidelity a price they have to pay to keep them in designer clothes & status for the rest of their lives? Surely, they can hook up with one of her husbands equally successful business colleagues to ensure that they maintain their lifestyle - they do this all the time in the West!

Lol, very true, very true. I get the upfront and immediate attention of my TGF if I make these kinds of mistakes in conversation. TG "threat radar" is highly tuned, and appears to have over-the-horizon capabilities, lol! After all, she has her farang, and knows there are plenty of TG's out there willing to eat her breakfast at the slightest opportunity!
Perhaps this is why she "ignores" the "possibility" I might sneak in an occassional s/t. In her mind, it presents no threat, and let's me do "what man have to do." But the unwritten rule is, "never in her face." A good rule to live by.

I always thought that one of the biggest factors keeping the divorce rate low here was that Thai men will rarely get seriously involved with any woman who has already been married.
Basically, for a Thai woman, after a divorce, doesn't she find herself "persona non grata" with any other Thai men?
