I am getting confused here.
First, you say that long term farang/thai relationships arent really possible and then you say 'they' are prostitutes.
I assume you are saying that a long term relationship with a Thai prostitute is extremely unlikely to work but it doesnt read like that.
What YOU have to bear in mind is that many farang in Thailand wouldnt dream of dating a prostitute. There are plenty of gorgeous, fun and intelligent Thai girls out there and it is perfectly possible to have normal relationship with them. Just because your experience of Thailand is limited to dealing with hookers, it is wrong to assume everyone else is like that.

Hmm interesting, sort of thing you hear a lot really not that i'm denying it because it's logical, but its just that every person I hear it from is either not interested in a relationship or has never had a successul relationship with anyone anywhere.
Again this is logical because if they had a successful relationship they wouldn't need to be looking for another.
Unless of course their partner had died.

I am led to understand that the concept of prostitution is different in Thailand, but they are still prostitutes.

The only Thai I have seen on this forum is 'Scout' but he/she is a confessed trans-sexual and might have a different perspective.
I would not want to destroy your illusions and fantasies but it is Thailand, a land of fantasy and starry-eyed farang who checked their realistic brain in at the arrivals lounge.

With regard to relationships I am referring to the often quoted statistic of a high failure rate amongst any Thai/farang relationship.
Quoted where?, I'd like to see this study.
In my circle of friends, I'd say the success rate is 90%, sample size 20. None of the girls are known to be x bar girls, but suspect 1 or 2 are.
Both failures were down to the guy.

my parents have been married for more than 40 years
people used to do that years ago.
Im in europe and see more and more tg around with Falang many with children and here for years (although many will after time go back )
In my circle of friends I would say similar figures as above, I know of only one failure in my circle of friends.
But many are only 4 or 5 years togeather so who knows, but thats with anything. I have been married for 6 years not that long really, many people copied me.
My brother was married to a Falang and divorced in
less than a year and taken to the cleaners.
Outside my circle of friends i,e vague acuantance, guy at work has a cousin married tg (ex bar) after she got the papers (full citizenship ) she told him now you can piss off. Off course this excists thats what some women do.
My brother almost lost his house and everything he had worked for to a bitch who came with nothing and obviously was only after money, a falang she was from Essex so that explains a lot lol

these relationships are both inside and outside of Thailand. The longest marriage I would say is 16 years, the shortest probably 5 or 6, shorter marriages I didn't include, and people I don't know well, I didn't include.
The point being is that those who scoff are those that cannot do.

Lastly my wife met one guy who had brought a bg over and she pissed off with some other geezer in the pub, this happens quite a bit after they get full stay papers but fits in to what we all know already. None of these
cases are in my circle of friends, like I said one finished because the guy suddenly stopped having a lot of cash and she found a new one who was rich and bought her a house.

One of the senior members of this forum quoted 90+% failure rate. I don't remember his references just that so many failed. Success is better in Thailand.

Here we go again....... I know a similar number and the failure rate 80+%.
Do you know any legal secretaries as friends? I have heard horror stories from them. The same pattern unfortunately. Once in farangland the shine of the relationship and the country soon wears off. They get talking to friends and whoops there goes another few thousand dollar house !
Talk the visa section of the American, German,Swiss and British embassies and ask them why they try to discourage visas for Thai girls. Most of the applications are for bar girls. Generally the only type a Western man can get unless he is in denial and tells the World she is a cocktail bar manageress and would never do P4P.
Living in Thailand and you might meet a Thai good girl (whatever that is supposed to mean Mr Stickman !)
Enjoy the country for what it is and not how you want to reflect it in your own farang image.
They are all at it ! good girls included. I well remember my German friend vomitting down the toilet when he found out his university educated 'good-Thai-girl' had been freelancing in 'Spasso' while he was back in Farangland dreaming about her daily.

You have to work at it and give things up, I have one friend who travels twice a year to thailand, always complains he is so lonely and would like to have a family, he is approaching 50 but believes he is 19.
Point is he cant, hes more interested in himself and its too much hard work, even the women he pays bugger off, he always comes back in love which soon wears off.
it has a bit more to to it than sending money or taking care of the buffalo.
