You work six days a week for not much salary, then you give it all to her, to control how she wants on your days off.

scobie, I might earn a little more then a thai but she won't be having control of all my money, just my weekend money I budget for to use for entertainment for that 1 night, during the week I have a seperate budget to use for myself.
In the long run if my experiment works I will be saving money as many times I have gone over my weekend budget.

You are working in LOS, that changes things quite abit.
From what i've seen, and I might be missing a few things, you are now expected to operate under Thai customs. You are setting yourself up to loose face big time.
All it can take is you handing her the tab, and her paying it in the wrong place. You would be handed the bill simply because you are the male in the group, no falang destinction at all.

I let the missus handle most routine financial transactions when we are in Thailand. We even register at hotels in her name. This eludes some (never all) of the higher farang price issues we'd strike if I handled it myself. Most times I hand her the cash and let her handle the payments - she will for example check the restaurant bill (or bar bill - she is generally sober when I am not) and make sure it is correct and leave a tip if she thinks they deserve it.
I just see this as part of letting the one of us who knows best in the circumstances deal with the issue - for example I deal with the "friendly" Thais who want us to go to a last day sale or get a taxi for us at the hotel door (she never knew about "scammers" till she hooked up with a farang).
If we ever move to Thailand (roll on retirement!!) I would not change this arrangement. It works. It saves baht. Enjoy.

Minder is right. Most of the times with my TGF out of BKK the check is handed to my TGF and the waiter/waitress looks a bit befuddled when I pay the bill. The Thai Guys really have their dicks in a vise when they hand over their money to their wives.

Scoobie and MSB, I have previsously met BigBeefa and he is a good natured guy and I am sure this is not a wind up on his part.
Now I have found there are two types of TG's here, one that will do like yours and order the most expensive items etc and try to milk you for every satang you got and others who care about your finances together and do not want to waste money. Unfortunately there exists a lot more girls in the spending camp than not.
If she bolts with the 5K given to her in advance consider it money well spent and tell her "Don't let the door hit you in the ass"
Seeing what you posted about her already, I would bail and go hunting for a better girl.
Although I would be interested in the results of your experiment.

I hope I'm not being stuck up, but I can't understand why anyone with a Western education would willingly let a prostitute from a primitive agrarian society control some part of his finances.
You can't say No to her? Fine, that's sort of blunt in Thailand. And maybe you got a soft spot for smiling girls. Say "maybe later" or "I'll think about it". Believe me, she'll forget about in 5 minutes and think of something else she wants you to buy.
I will take ThaidUP at his word that you're a rational nice guy. but I gotta ask... Why are you spending so much effort not saying NO and planning budgets etc just to make a it regular part of your life to barfine a bargirl a couple days a week? You're going to test her with your new system of giving her control of your weekend money? The other guys who barfine her during the week probably don't do that. I'm sorry, I don't see why you put out the effort.
What's wrong with diversification? I assume she does it anyway.
PS When I dine with my TGF the bill is 9 out of 10 given to her too. I think, even if I order in Thai etc, the waitress just can't bring herself to think I will understand it.
