yup....it was an "expensive" freebie!! next time u got a freebie, don ever ever go out shopping with them!! unless u really liked her a lot and intend to see her again!! if not, just give them some $$ even if they refuse and ask them to buy something that they like!!
Frankly speaking, i'll think twice about a freebie nowadays!! there's nofree lunch in this world, u'll end up paying in something else, time and the aweful guilty feeling of getting rid of them!!!

A shopping trip can be quite rewarding and a good way to relax while checking out the eye candy in daylight! If you are staying with a regular in the usual one room bedsit then buying them an electric kettle or even a microwave can pay dividends in the longer term. Also improves your own comfort as she can kick-start you with a coffee before the early morning gymnastics!
Most will not be looking for a trip to a gold counter and will be more than happy to pick up some cheap nick-nacks to brighten up their small apartments.
Over a period I once bought all of the above plus a tv for a regular and now have a guaranteed bed and free fun and games whenever I am in the area.
Some will no doubt sell anything semi-valuable before you have reached the airport, so home comforts are are usually the best bet. The only thing this particular girl ever got rid of was a DVD player she had bought for herself. Seems a monk talked her into parting with it in return for some promises of'good luck' ... which is perhaps another area for future debate?

Where is pratunam and how do you get there? Is it like a mall or a shopping area? If not a mall, can one locate the boutiques/outlets easily?
