well for once i have to agree with Pinga here.
the P-word is just a pet hate of mine.
do we NEED to label the ladies?.
we all know what they are and what they are doing for a living,but why can't people just have a little respect for them?.
there are many better and nicer names we can use,use them.
it does'nt cost anything to call them a TG instead of Prostitute.
and as to free sex,contarary to what others have said,it is available.
and i am talking about no BF,no tip,no drinks,no food,no gifts.
because i treat them as god's gifts and not as P's,i have enjoyed good times with ladies and not one Satang has left my pocket.

I also agree with brother Pinga. These ladies may take part in the P4P biz but that is their job. That is what they do, not who they are inside. Is it really so hard to show these ladies even the smallest, basic respect? Is referring to them as BG's or MP ladies such a difficult thing to do? Think about it, really. Party Boy, I to don't see the point of coming all the way to LOS to spend time with farang women, but you have every right to make whatever choices you wish to make for yourself, just like everyone else does, as long as no one is being hurt or abused. If you seriously wish to meet foreigner ladies in LOS then I would say that your best bet for meeting the greatest number would be to check out Koh Sarn road ( spelling ? ) as this is where the majority of foreigners who are backpacking through SE Asia tend to stay when they are in BKK. Well. For me, if someone was going to use any word to describe the working females in Thailand, prostitute is fine. I'd much rather that they say prostitute then say "ho", hooker, slut, whore, ect.
I will agree that not using those words is probably the best, but won't jump on someones ass about it when they do use the word "prostitute.
Desides. I think that just saying tg's is doing a huge dis-service to the ones that are no in the business that people still sleep with. Or are we saying that they are all in the same group because they put out??
I guess we are talking about semantics. Even working female, professional female can mean something different to each person.
Oh ... well. My 2 cents.

Well stated. While I don't think Party Boy meant anything negative by his using the P word, I think we tend to react really negatively to it because of the extremely pejorative nature of the word in the West.
I like to use the words BG, MP girl, etc. but personally use the word "sex worker" when I have to go there. This is about as neutral as I can think -- since I think sex work is as legitimate as any other work.
I agree with the bro's, the P4P scene in LOS is special and unique, hence our umbrage at the P word.

Thanks, Beer Barone. Trust good ol' Shakers to get to the truth of things in ten easy little words.
Technically, the BGs are obviously prostitutes. I can't see any point in shying away from the word as a Ýneutral job description when the context makes that appropriate. Usually it isn't.
Often, though, people use this word to deliberately demean the girls - to imply that they're worthless little playthings who no-one in his right mind would give a toss about.
I think we can all tell the difference.
If all you can get out of these often wonderful girls is a f_ck with a prostitute, then that's your problem. I sure as hell don't intend to let it become mine.
