Sure they appear that way - and thats exactly what they want you to think .
The way Thai women handle men ( especially non-Thais ) is best illustrated by a scene in "Enter the Dragon" where Bruce Lee is challenged to a fight on a Chinese Junk by an obnoxious bully . Lee agrees but says they need more space and should rather fight on the beach which is not too far away . The obnoxious character ( thinking he will win the day ) rushes into the small landing craft which Lee then sets adrift leaving the bully "All at Sea" . This method Lee describes as "Fighting without fighting ".
Another illustration is a tactic used in Tug-O-War . The 2 teams are pulling against each other for all they are worth - when one team suddenly gives some slack , catches the other team off-guard and then pulls them all the way across the line .
If at any time you have experienced any or both of the above situations - You can rest assured that you have the good fortune of being involved with a "submissive" Thai woman !!!!!

I remember when I believed them when they said "maybe" to me. It took me a while to figure out that it was simply a nice way of saying "no".
After getting used to the maybe answer, I like it now. It certainly helps avoiding going into an unpleasant discussion, as ... maybe could still be maybe; though you know it really is "no". And if it was a real maybe, then you will be pleasantly surprised when things go "yes".
At the end, the whole thing is about expectations' management. Frustration and fights often happen as a result of poorly managed expectations. Asian women are much better at this.

I actually put this rant on another thread, more appropriate here though, sorry for the redundency-again-sorry for the redundency,(Har- har).
In America, the dating scene is so obnoxious, and seemingly mildly physically attractive women have some perverted idea that if they get implants, they snag Joe Millionaire, and the rest of us get the big f_ck off. An average date here will easily set one back at least 100 US dollars. An will one get laid? probably not! This dance of the elusive Barbie Dolls is standard operating procedure here, and frankly I wouldn't waste my time. This is nothing more that MROGENY in it's worst form, and women are nothing more than subtle prostitutes, willing to whore themselves for money, without putting out at all. In LA, where I now reside, a simple good morning or hello will often be met with a rolling eyes snub. Don't get me started on normal.
I know I'm painting with a broad brush here, but the beauty of LOS and the BG'S is that the 9's-10's will talk, party, f_ck, where as the anything close to that in LA just give a cold shoulder and leave us "not so Joe Millionaire" types feeling inadequate and not quite ok. Thank Buddha for Thailand and all it's sentient beings.

Hear, hear - well spoken TWD. I couldn't agree more.
Same situation here. The so-called "Western women" here have this huge hang-up about becoming emotionally attached to a man before they will "permit" him to have his wicked way with them. My interpretation of that is that if the guy spends a certain amount of money on them THEN he can get to screw her.

I see your point but aren't we men responsible for this behavior?
We allow the media to create these images of perfect beauty even though it is all airbrushed and digitally enhanced. Guys are unhappy if their chick doesn't resemble a Sports Illustrated swimsuit model. We produce commercials and products that advertise to these women that they are ugly and undesireable unless the purchase cerrtain products that make them beautiful.
We tell them ever since they are small girls that they are princesses deserving only to marry princes while we give them Barbie dolls every Xmas and dress them up in cute litle cheerleader outfits making them cheer for Joe quarterback in the pop warner leauge. We make our heroes rich athletes, CEO's, media stars all the while we scorn the guy who works for FedEx or is a school teacher or a factory worker belittling his income and contribution to society calling him a loser.
How many guys do we know will buy a car because it is a chick magnet and go overboard to buy the attention of women by wining and dining them?
We wonder and complain why Western women are screwed up? We bitch and complain when they turn down our advances? We sing the virtues of 3rd world women because they provide us with companionship at a cheaper price? A idiot savant can figure out why Western women are screwed up and bitchy. Hell we the men create the industries and social values that make them screwed up!
