I agree BigDUSA, my wife gets this sometimes when we go to Bangkok or Pattaya. They think she is a working girl, and say some pretty mean stuff sometimes. Good thing I can understand 75% of it, when I snap my head around real quick and give them a dirty look, they know the jig is up.
If you are in a p4p area, and you have a Thai girl with you, most Thai people will think she is a prostitute. Key word being most. I never have had a problem in Chonburi, most people know my wife and her family.

First of all congratulations Big D on your mastering the Thai language. You never indicated to us that you could speak Thai or any of it's variations. Good for you.
Second of all when one of us walks past a group of Thai men while we are in the company of a lady I can pretty much guarantee that a large percentage of the time the lady we are with is from one of the northeast areas of LOS ( In other words, Issarn ). Now since we all know how absolutely demeaning regular Thais are when it comes to the treatment of their Issarn brothers and sisters ( Especially the sisters ) then I'm having a hard time trying to understand exactly what your point is.

It seems the Thais don't tend to be very kind to their own; was just chatting with my Chiang Mai gf this morning, and she was telling me how her co-workers looked down on her when she was divorced a few years ago.
Now this woman is as "nice" as you can imagine - good job in the financial sector, house, car, two teenagers, and 39 looking several years younger as with so many tg's that take care of themselves. She doesn't even go to bars, let alone work in them, and dresses conservatively but tastefully. I'd be proud to be seen anywhere with her.
She also mentioned how the Thai men look down on a single woman with children - ironic when you consider where the kids come from, huh? How many bargirls haven't you met that are supporting children back home, where the man has simply up and done a runner on them?
I think whether or not your gf is thought of as a bargirl by the locals has much to do with how they dress and comport themselves - and it's no wonder that people will think of her as a bg if you're on Sukhomvit or in Pattaya, as most of them in those areas ARE bg's.
To the original poster, there are all kinds of thirty-something ladies out there who would love to spend time with you, and this is the age group I prefer as well for anything longer than a night. Remember, many of these women age slowly, and don't look their years.
