I have no idea about ice but this statement about K is EXTREMELY wrong. Alcohol massively enhances the effects of K (as well as leaving yourself more exposed to the side effects - potential to choke on your own puke etc.)

500B, is a rip off,
Up North in the Chaing Rai mountain region, Yaba pills can be purchased for as little as 10B each if bought in bulk, from Hill Tribes. It was offered to us as we visited a remote tribe which upon entering the village a stench of smoked opium and marijuana could be smelt far away.
We bought 10 Yaba pills for only 200B for my thai lady, friends.
Be aware they have border police checking "most" cars around these areas due to the high number of drug trafficking activity.
I do not condone drugs, drugs are bad, although I did end up trying 1 Yaba pill which we smoked with foil and a straw.
Felt very hypo and good for 12 hours then crashed into a depressive state for 2 days which little food could be eaten.

No Offense man but K refrein you from getting drunk fact of life.
As for the effect as you describe it it all depends on quantities but K does not makes you feel happy but rather get you the feeling that you are not in your body and that things around you are moving slow.

People are bad not drugs, there are still some societies in the world who respect drugs for what they are ( this includes the drug alcohol ).

If alcohol was invented today it would be banned immediately, history tells us that about 100 years ago during the drug wars alcohol won (after the prohibition)
A footnote at the same time recreational drugs were being outlawed across europe following America
Absinth was banned as well, this is a green liquid
that many used like van gogh etc. It seems that this is
becoming available again on the market, there is a test case in court in the netherlands at the moment if won
it could be the start of it being in the shops again.
ANYONE TRIED THIS STUFF ?
Perhaps when vaste sums of money were spent finding out why some people are succeptable to self desruction
and some not we might get somewhere but then
that wouldn't be good for the DEA etc, no problem
then no money to combat the problem. Got to keep the status quo ya know

Ya Ba used to be called Ya or medecine or pills. It was the authorities (1996 under Banharn I think) who insisted ba was added to it which means crazy. Put the two together and you get crazy drug. (Also sometimes called ya ma or horse medecine)
With a limited number of users, particularly truckers and farmers, it was not a problem to society apart from the fact that it affects vision.
But the explosion of use in 1995 to 2000 was marked, reputedly because of a lack of heroin in 1996. I saw a number of suicides and would-be suicides on the streets of users who had got into a terrible state. It is not a pleasant sight as they can become very thin and deranged looking and uncontrollable.
Several incidents of knife wielding paranoics strung out on Ya ba reinforced the public perception of a growing menace to society. School kids were using it, slum dwellers, tuk tuk and taxi drivers, college students, waitresses, hi-so girls. It was out of control by 1998 and then got worse.
It costs about 3 Baht/pill to make and retails depending on supply at anything from 40 to 200 Baht. Lots of money for the mafia and lots of money to pay off police.
Then Toxin declared war on drugs and 3,000 small time dealers and users were popped in a few months. The supply of the drug and demand dropped overnight. Abusers turned to Beer Chang and other forms of self abuse.
And after 3,000 died the Thais cheered Toxin as a strong leader and no-one has seriously investigated the deaths since. Thais were by and large happy the problem eased and my Thai friends seem unconcerned about the fate of thousands of fellow Thais.

So technically the maker's of Beer chang are Drug barons profiting on the misery of people who have nothing better to do than destroy themselves
(of course with some drugs it takes lomger than others )
But it is unlikely that sellers of Beer chang would be gunned doen whilst standing behind the counter of
7-11.
But everything has been swept under the carpet now so carry on people the show is over, until the next time..
