Just another thought on this subject.
I really do enjoy getting the odd curious look from farang tourist couples when dining with a beautiful young thing - I think it makes the farang girls particularly uneasy.
Unfortunately, this probably ruins the guy's chance of a tour without her.

Well, actually, BK is an English-owned chain. Quite successful in the US I believe.
British? Since when? My cousin has 3 franchises in Texas. The first Burger Kings were in Florida or Georgia if I'm not mistaken, and the headquarters is in Florida. Haven't talked to him in years but I assume that hasn't changed.

MarkC, Packripper, you are both partially right and a bit wrong too.
Burger King was but is no longer British owned. Yes, it is true that for a while it was a british company if one wants to consider British a company owned by another British registered entity. BK was recently sold to a group of investors from Texas.
However, BK itself has always been headquartered in Miami, Florida. IMO this will then make it a USA company regardless of who owns it at any given time.

How? Because things did change for a while -it was British owned for a few years and some could argue that then it was British. I would say you were right but not for the reasons you seemed to think.
By the way, what do you mean by "all knowing opinion"? I think you are mixing both concepts: knowledge and opinion. Aren't they two different things? Some have knowledge, some have opinions, a few have both and most have neither.
