First met Mrs Shreddie in September 1997 in Pattaya, my third trip to LOS. That was a surprise trip I made and my then 'regular' girlfriend in Pattaya had gone to the village.
Mrs Shreddie and I saw each other every trip I had to LOS after that. Things became really serious in 2002 as that is when Mrs Shreddie's passport shows she was first admitted to UK, to come and have a holiday with me. She came on a fiance visa but used it for a holiday. Six months together and a chance to see if things might work out if we lived together in the UK.
She returned to Thailand for three or four months and to get another fiance visa. I went out for a holiday again and we travelled back to UK together in 2003. We married later that year.
Now married 3 years to Mrs Shreddie - all happy and only regret is that we did not marry sooner.

Married June 1974 to a Thai Lady. Best move I ever made in my life! First, last, and only wife. Yes, we stayed together till she died. Her family is now my family and although we had no children I'm the big Grandpa.
I saw many guys ( Air Force), in the 70's, marry BG's and yes some did make good a wife and mother however most did not make it more then a few years. My wife was never a BG as she considered that the easy way. She grew up poor but has her own standards.

If you live in Thailand I cant possibly see the reason you would bother getting married at all - unless you want to have kids I guess.
Afterall there is the maid to do the cooking and cleaning and there are millions of girls to make temporary or semi-permanent girlfriends.
As for marrying bar girls - you have to be nuts!!

Could'nt be better.
As for being married here in Los, well some try, some get rejected several times over consecutive trips, so maybe they would make a good case study here.
Totally agree with why bother being married here in los with the abundance around.
But also there are other reasons for it, one as mentioned kids and that takes precedence over all.
But then some guys that have several hereditory defects such as eyesight problems, noise aversion, bright lights etc should just not breed and that rules out one of the main reasons to be married.
By the way 'marriage' is just a word, I do not believe in it.

In my case I was going back to the USA after my tour of duty. Married was the only way I would see her again. Good move on my part. Now at my age and living in Thailand I will never marry again.
