You've got me somewhat right; I'm really funny, or so I've been told.
On your guesses re: my motivations (lack of time, lack of social skills, too much $$$) I hope you're only 1 out of 3. You presume I'm weak in social skills and time, and have a wealth of disposable income. I'll acknowledge the lack of time, I'm usually in BKK less than a week at a go.
As to the money. I'm in the 1% here in the US, albeit at the lowest level of that now reviled percentile, BUT with full claims on every clam I earn. So while I can afford BKK 5* hotels I can't say the same for Parisian ones.
Dude, I won't speak to my social skills....they're gotten me where I am, and I'm stuck with what I've got. I know I'm not gonna learn the Thai language in this lifetime, and that's what I deem most important to harvesting and enjoying the fruit hanging at the gogo's and beer bars. I've chatted them up, and taken them back....with mixed satisfaction. I'm ready to pay a premium to mingle with more nuanced companions, but I'm as averse to paying over the odds as you seem to be. We just seem to have different thresholds.
So, trying to value shop my companionship is an interesting challenge and I'll be sure to check in with any interesting results, or lessons overpaid for.

Don't get me wrong - I will definitely be looking forward to your reports and your experiences.
I just feel that you could get what you are looking for by just taking a more casual, laid back approach to the usual places - as I think that you will just end up overpaying and not finding what you want.
In general, I have had the advantage of having a female, Thai, wingman with me on many of my trips, who assisted me - both in communicating with the girls, but also making them more at ease --- and ultimately helping me find girls that are adept in English, and are great companions for a while.
It's all about pre-qualifying - and while just knowing some rudimentary Thai works for that, you really do not need to have fluency.

It was good of Juniper to extend the invite, but as it turned out a meet up on this trip was not to be. I'm 3 days on the ground now, and half way through my escort experiment. I decided to mix it up; keeping to my old comfort zone of Tulip/Mango/etc and adding in a couple of "dates".
I sent out a number of emails to girls who advertise on sites, such as http://www.sexyescortads.com, punter link, and thaixcort. I tried to screen for girls who were a little older (than 21), a little taller (than 5'0) and a little more expressive. Either of the first two can get minimized or exaggerated, and a ghost writer can take care of the third, but ya gotta start someplace.
Anyway, I got some replies, and was surprised at the stated requirements and limited activites allowed. The girls seemed picky, I'd guess if you're going for 4-10k you'd be a little more market oriented.
So I agreed with one in particular, Lily, who was in her early 30's but looked good and was priced right for a shot in the dark. After agreeing to meet I did some further searching, found another ad by her, hit it again to refamilarize myself, and the link led to a younger, much prettier girl with different accommodations and prices. Hmm, so "Lily" was an agency. Went with her anyway since it was arranged, and if it didn't seem right I'd give her cab fare and send her on her way.
Turned out the one who showed up was the younger one, and it worked out okay. Met for some bubbly in the Hansar bar, where I'm staying, chatted, her English was quite good for an Issan girl. She was dressed well enough to belong there, but she was the slightest unsure. She later confided she considered these kinds of places "Hi-So" and didn't really care for them.
We agreed to go for dinner first, she wanted thai food, okay...saves me a bunch of money compared to Eve at the hotel (BTW- Very Good, maybe 1*)
Went upstairs to change, and we didn't leave for a couple of hours. She loved the room, when she sat on the bed and smiled that was enough for me.
Technically she's no Superstar, not even close, but for a fresh and fun GFE and a tight and pliant body she was as good as any.
She then changed into her street clothes, which were much more hooker like than what she showed up in, and we hit the BTS for her preferred dinner spot. It was that open air place just up from Asoke station on the even side of Suk, V-8 I think it's called. Pretty good food and a nice place to sit, talk and laugh with her. Paid her for the minimum, 4k plus 1k for the extra couple hours of non-conjugal. I hadpleaded jet lag, which was true, when I told her I needto call it early. She would have been 8k for all night, I think. Had fun, but won't go with her again.
Besides the truth-in-packaging issue she wasn't comfortable with where I stay and like to eat, other than on the bed and each other (quite a large knobby she had on her). If I had stumbled upon her at an oily I would consider her a gem, for double the price with limited upward mobility she didn't hit my sweet spot.
Next day went to Tulip for a comparison, chose a noted GFE type, Pim.

Tonight, actually in 30 minutes, I have the next notch up on the escort scale. A confined independent who is very picky, and stated in her follow up email that everything is covered, even BJ. Lot's of don'ts too. And, her policy is two hour max the first time to see if there is compatability!
We shall see.

I m amazed at your report bor Jimmy...an ESCORT that "does not go over 2h the first time", I mean...it should be up to the CUSTOMER to decide if he want to keep her (expensive) company, not to her to impose stupid "rules" on customers...anyway if there is "incompatibility" its unlikely the girl will stay for two hours, customer will likely show her the door before that!

Interesting, but as Daffy mentioned, I think this will prove futile. With money to spend, you really just need the right venue and social setting. I think it would prove much more beneficial for you to make a few contacts with local expats (of some means) and then spend some time in those Thai g-clubs. With a few visits you'd likely be able to find a girl there for some kind of sugar baby relationship which seems to be what you're after. If all else fails, promises of expensive gifts and 5 star travel will probably help.
Other places you will just find the same Isaan bar girls in different wrappings as you discovered. You should look for the lighter skinned girls if you want someone to move in your social circles.
You could also just join some social clubs made up of local successful expats and eventually stumble onto the real deal.
Personally, I never understood the attraction of 'escorts' as it takes away from the illusion that only Thailand and a few other places can give you. Also, why I don't ever visit prostitutes back home.
