I think haam sup is absolutly spot one, i have strong feelings for a b/g, and once i got home i couldn't stand the thought of her working in the bar scene, but something deep down was telling me that i had to accept this, which i now do.
I look at these b/g's as friends first, then if anything progresses then so be it.
I'll be visiting this b/g in 3 weeks, and then i can make a sound decision on where we go from here, but at least i've made some good friends along the way.

Seeking fun or love is LOS?
As a single guy, I found it very diffcult to detach myself from some of the girls I've me. But, with time, I too have come to the realization that it is an illusion. I'm sure relationships have worked out for some, but the majority I believe 99% failed. Starting a relationship with a bargirl is just too much of an obstacle to overcome. There are many men who have gottan hurt and loss lots of money to these girls. Not to say that every BG is after your money; we must realize that money is what motivated these girls to enter their profession.

I have a friend in gg-bar in Pattaya.
I enjoy her company and last time I took her out one night just for spending time together.
She never asks questions if she does not see me in couple of days and just says "hey, You're on holiday , of course You want to see other bars and meet other ladies, too".
If I happen to visit in the bar when she is already bf'd and sitting in other table , she usually pops by and tells me "Sorry , the man pay for bar , see You later."
This works fine for me and her and is the exeption that confirms my FFFFF-principle.

wzyguy - That's strange, money is why I entered my profession too. Money was also the reason my girlfriend entered her profession and also why she changed professions. The point is?
You also say, "many men". How many is many and are these guys you know personally or only that you have heard about? I've lost track of the number of "urban leagends" I've heard repeated by guys who have never even been to Thailand. Personally I have more women friends who have been cheated on, lied to and/or have had promises made and then broken.
The thing is, treat eveyone you meet, both men and women as individuals. I have seen people make more mistakes by prejudging someone than by giving people a chance.

Addy - Why not just accept it? It's just a job. You may have to worry about someone else coming along with a visa and plane ticket in hand to carry them away but as far as working in a bar, GoGo or even going with customers, its just a job.

Just to add my 2 pence worth. I think the reason there is a lot of misunderstanding between South-East Asian women and western men is that westerners express themselves ambiguously. What comes out of a western guy's mouth seldom matches what is written on his face. It's the institutionalized hypocricy of western culture. Although Thai girls tell white lies their deceptiveness is not as subtle and habituated like it is with westerners. Americans(US) are the epitome of ambiguity, and this lessens the further east you travel. I genuinely think that a Thai girl cannot benefit from a relationship with a farang, what she gains in materialism she loses in more important ways. It's best to treat her like nothing special, say very little, and just let her know exactly what she is by paying her exactly what's she's worth.

Find- Not at all hard to do most the time they find you and you have to beat them off with a stick.
f_ck- This is slightly harder to do for not every good looking Thai girl you see out there will want you to
Forget- This is very hard to do fact some guys can;t do it. Even the ones that can find it very difficult cause the thai girls treat you so good.
I have never been to Thailand before But I have been to the Philippines to me both are comparable hot chicks that treat you very well. Theres a girl there in the Philippines somewhere that 12 yrs ago treated me so well shes never lost a place in my thoughts. However it is this girl and my experance in the Philippines thats made me determined to make this trip to Thailand. I just have to get more of the royal treatment even if its only for 12 days Rock on guys
