Yeh but I bet the Japanese guy didn't speak Thai either, so basically you could have said anything and he would have accepted it.
The face factor is so strong in Japan that I am sure even if he knew that you were not Thai, he would never admitt it since that would show you to be a liar, by his word.

As sponsors, we sometimes wonder how these girls can't resist spending all their money on silly things like gold, phone bills, clothes, and going out. And how some always manage to flush opportunities down the toilet to live a different kind of life...
