^ oh, I'm not saying they're super heroes or anything. But they are more likely to know the owners or managers of particular establishments within their beat. Best to have them around because they do have a measure of heft/power here, as opposed to the falang tourist who has just about zero heft/power.
Regular police are busy taking care of their businesses without dealing with foreigners. (and thus, they usually care less).
Just in general, of course.

i think they are dressed in black and also brown! you will find them inthe night areas such as patpong or nana where they do have special booths to contact them. also they are patrouling with special cars and the letters tourist police. if you encounter any problem just talk with them they usually speak very acceptable english!

One of my B/G told me the bar owners hate to have the tourist police called to there bar by a falang as the police will charge them 5000 per visit.

What a situation that was..
I took a girl from 3rd floor of NEp a month back. As we were walking she started acting all freakish. I asked her what the problem was, she said she'd forgotten her ID. She started to call her friend on the mobile asking for the friend to bring the ID. We were inside the hotel lobby and she was talking,, however, there was nobody talking on the other end.. I was standing quite close to her trying to hear if she was talking to a male or female. But there was NO voice.. NOTHING..
When she got off the phone she said her friend would look for the ID and bring it by after she found it. She said If I pleaded her case she could come up to the room.. or she could wait in the back and come up after I got the key!
needless to say.. I politely told her she would have to go. She kept saying NO.. She come with me.. Mai pen rai!! No need ID..
I stood my ground.. Told her to go and walked away..
I went upstairs for a few mins and then went out to NANA parking lot..
All this happened at 2am.
The reason I'm adamant about ID's is a friend of mine (23yrs old) Dying last year. No ID's were taken at the hotel. But rumor mill was he had a bit of a party.. Lots of ladies and a few katoeys.
