I don't think it bothers most people, but it would be nice if there was some doubt (as opposed to absolutely no doubt) as to whether you were paying for the sex, or getting it for free. Thai’s do not have a problem with sex, but most societies have at least a minor taboo concerning prostitution, at least in the upper rungs of society.
Keep in mind that the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit is much, much nicer and more formal than ANY Sheraton (and almost all other hotels) in the USA. But as I said, don't worry about it. The thing that drives people crazy about your questions is that you worry about very small things.

Ok to support the above statement let me offer this true story.
Place: JW Marriott BKK
It was a business associate (From a Fortune 500 company) myself and two BG's. All are very drunk. We proceed to get in the elevator and upon the doors closing my friend begins dry hump his BG in the ass saying "Who's your Daddy!"
Elevator stops on 4th or 5th floor (whatever floor the gym is on) and in walks in my friend's boss and co worker after a workout. Upon the doors closing, my friend's drunk BG restarts the dry humping sequence with her chanting "Your my Daddy, you want to spank me"
Needless to say it was a Kodak moment, at least for me. My friend is now referred to as "Big Daddy" at work from that point on.
Yes a little beer goes a long way.
This also answers the question from TC73 why anyone would be ashamed.

I've stayed at some 5-star hotels in bangkok: Shangri-La 3 times, JW Marriott 2 times, Shangri-La and Shertaton Grande later this month. These hotels are guest friendly and the staff is accustomed to it. I see more difficulties with some of the guests, especially in the elevators at the Shangri-La when I'm bringing in a honey half my age. The older women are the ones offended, the men just smile and wink. But, who cares?
The only problem I've had with any hotel staff, besides trying to impose a joiner fee (4-star Windsor Suites, Royal Parkview,Tawana Ramada, Arnoma), was when I registered a girl at Sofitel Silom. The girl at registration appeared quite offended, and deliberately assigned us to a standard room that wasn't prepared yet (I had booked a superior). Before I could complain (after 2 minutes in the room), the phone rang and a man said the hotel had made a mistake and was sending up a bellhop to direct us to the correct room. BTW, my girl was very, very hot, and she also dressed accordingly.
At Tawana Ramada, they asked for a joiner fee once, but let the girl register without one when I protested that I booked for 2 people. They didn't ask for joiner when I brought other girls in.
At Arnoma, they just checked the registry that I had booked for 2.
At Windsor Suites and Royal Parkview, I paid joiner fees, but not all the time (twice at Windsor Suites and once at Royal Parkview). Depends on the security person.
The girls usually ask: "Where you stay?" I try to aviod answering until after a price has been negotiated, just to be on the safe side, but find myself giving a generous tip anyway.

I would very much like to meet you guys. I fly in on KE (Korean Airlines) at 11:45 PM on August 9. Check in at Novotel Lotus. Check out of Novotel Lotus on Aug 14, Saturday. Check in at Sheraton on Aug 14. Check out of Sheraton on 21st of Aug, but actually around 10PM on the 20th because my flight leaves at 1:20 am on the 21st, which really sucks.

Leaving at 1:20 am does not suck. You can have a BG or soapy massage before you leave, and that is the best time to avoid traffic while traveling to the airport. I have taken that same KE flight several times.
