She is apparantly taking English lessons in Patong at 4,500 bht...does this sound reasonable..?

It doesn't sound unreasonable.
First of all costs are not high.
Secondly like everything else, if they don't register, they cannot just walk into any hospital and ask for it. She may have the reasons for not qualifying incorrect, but essentially, yeah I'd say she's telling the truth.

My 2nd girlfriend in Thailand spoke almost no english. I gave her 10,000 baht to take classes. She spoke pretty darn decent english 2 months later. It was amazing. That was 3 years ago. Now she speaks about perfect english. Of course, she is now getting married to a farang (not me). English skills make a girl much more marketable.

Ask her for the name of the school and send them an email simple...
Tell her you want to pay them direct and you need the info to have them checked out make sure they are an accredited school...

2000b could be right on. If her foot was infected and required stitches along with the tetnus shot. With hospital fees and antibiotics. The Dr. always overloads you with perscriptions. Anywhere between 1500-2000b. If you think she is trustworthy pay the bill because the costs are in line.
How can you call her your g/f? If she is hurting, you have to help out or change her designation from g/f to the girl that I rent when in town.
