Yurune,

you seem to me much aquainted with the thai/asian culture with the mentioning of dowry and sorts. are you local? i can say i totally agree with you on the comfort of guaranteed sex for the TG...sometimes the other head is thinking. where do i stand with the C-4s? *grin*

Slojo,

you seem to be around dude...a total of 11 years long term relationships...man the 7 years...i don't know what to say.

end of the day, i think we need to find some girls of a good standard but one man's nightmare can be another man's dream, sometimes you never know what you'll get till you get them or lost till you've lost them. its all in the 'clicking' and knowing what matters most to one another.

sorry for being ignorant in this, but what is an "Isaan girl"?

Isaarn (various spellings) is the Northeastern section of Thailand.  It's the least fertile part of the country, has many overlaps with Laos, the language spoken there is a distinct dialect, and there is a lot of poverty.  As a result many of the BGs come from this area.  And many of the Bros here prefer their darker skin (generally) and slightly different appearance.  This is a brief summary of a broad subject.

seubeu,

Interesting... thks for the info. However I do think TG in general are gentle and nice. I have however, read of incident where the TG change into a totally diff person after say 6 months into a marriage. But then that seem to apply everywhere around the world! For the better (fingers cross).

Is it fair to say that thai ppl are very emotional ppl? There is a good and bad to it, I do think that letting emotion over take everything is not a good thing. Is that the case? Meaning they fall in love easily? I do too and I can understand that. I think at the end of the day we need to use our heart, which most of us ignore, living in this troubled times.. *sigh* here I go again... bla bla bla....

Also, is there any other forum where local thais hang out? AND not talknig so much abt BG? But everyday thai? Just curious, want more options

Macromedia,

do you think you might be contradicting yourself here? letting emotions take over is not a good thing but we should use our heart? heart has got to do with feelings...isn't that emotion?

what happened to plain and simple facts & figures?

hi delta,

Perhaps I am contradicting myself. Emotions can be Negative or positive, in the extreme sense. Heart to me is more balance and at peace. That is all. TO be able to see things clearly, things like conscience. Somethings are just pure emotions. Facts and Figures? Isn't that human understanding. The next thing we will be discussing the BIG BANG theory(no pun intended).

Also, I think another thread to discuss more is needed, as I think we are all goin out of this topic? Breaking up wit a TG?

Macromedia,

balance and peace and conscience...shouldn't that be head strong...using your head to think and following blindly with the heart? you're not a science student are you? (just kidding)

yes facts & figure...when you have facts that she is cheating on you...go figure what to do. he he.

as for the big bang theory i wish Halle Berry was around...ke ke ke!

Thai people are, IMO, contradictory in this regard.  They are raised in a Buddhist culture where emotion is to be suppressed, both positive and negative emotions.  This is typified by the jai yen response to a bad situation (e.g., don't get upset, stay calm, keep a "cool heart").  When things do boil over they can go over the top.

As to talking with others about Thailand, that's not a bad idea, but this is a good source for information here.  Don't just tune in somewhere else because what is said is what you want to hear.  It's a good idea to stay open to all perspectives.

Some of the posts in this thread reminded me of the following:

Young son, "Dad, is it true, I heard in some countries a man doesn't know his wife until he marries her?"

Dad, "Son, that happens in every country."

Now that I have offended the sisters in the forum, LET THE STONING BEGIN!!! *MM3 crouches down*

seubeu, I agree about being open, thks...

Delta, you state "using your head to think and following blindly with the heart?"? erm, confused, which is which.. mind folow heart, heart follow mind? Most of us been down to different paths and each has his/her own perception of things, seubeu is correct in keeping an open mind. There are few things that stands the test of time, that is "self-integrity, honesty, conscience etc". I suppose that is the point I am trying to say. I see many(some my friends) on the verge of self-destruction because of extreme emotions, and no heart, no heart for his/her friends, family, ppl who do still care very much of them. ANd it is sad and tragic... at the end of the day we seek to strive to be better and happy, and better etc... here I go again.... ok this is outta topic, cut off time. :P

OK how about "when is the best time to go to Bangkok and get chreap plane tickets too!"

On the subject of dowry:

Didn't some billionaire recently paid a US$10 million dollar dowry to marry a former Miss Universe from Thailand?

slojo:

Mind if I ask you how much was the dowry your TGF's family wanted?

IMHO, if you end up marrying a girl who is a major bread winner for the family and as a result of the marriage, the girl can no longer send money home (because she quits working at the bar upon your request), then I feel that you have an obligation to provide support to her family.  Remember, Thailand, like many other less developed countries, do not have welfare or other social programs to support the girl's family.
