I couldn't agree less with this. Just because a BG might not be suitable as a long-term girlfriend, wife, cosmic soulmate or whatever other idiotic fantasy some needy Westerner wants to project onto her, it doesn't mean she is 'nothing special'. Still less that she is 'very little'.
Imho, some of these girls are very special indeed. At least, I find them so. As for 'paying her exactly what's she's worth', what the f_ck is that supposed to mean? That she's 'worth' 1,500 baht or whatever?

Jimmy D, it makes no difference, if she's a Thai Girl who doesn't prostitute herself, or a Thai Girl who does, my point is that western men express themselves ambiguously, (this is much less true for Thais). It leads to misunderstanding. It's a mistake for a farang to marry a Thai girl, and to take her from her country to the west is just tragic. Maybe if the farang was prepared to spend a decade genuinely getting to know these people, perhaps living in a Thai village, working in the rice fields, and struggling alongside them, maybe then a relationship between a farang and a village girl can be a wise decision.

Arcadius, your criticism of me is dismissed, since you can't even read properly. When I said, 'say very little', this clearly means not to get too wordy with the girls, it clearly doesn't mean that the girls are worth very little. And, as for what a girl is worth, well, she is worth as little as you can pay her, without it making her a sour puss.

We must move in different circles.There are indeed many happily married couples i know of ,i am one of them-7 years now.
What always amuses me is the"experts" who come to Thailand a couple of weeks a year and make judgements on that, or what is read in the press.
For what its worth in my opinion the problems come from the age difference.
60-70 year old guys hitched up with 20 year olds.
What makes these guys think The girls will treat them any differently to the girls of the same age in there native country ?
I know of three lovely girls wishing to meet decent guys.
One is my secretary,the other is a girl who sings for me sometimes ,and the third is my wifes best freind who is now working as a maid in Hong Kong hoping to meet a decent guy over there.She s fed up of trying to find a good man in B.K.
I have run out of freinds to introduce to them!
If your really serious about finding a Thai wife/girlfreind,you should think about looking at places that are not connected to the sex biz.

Jimmy D, what is the definition of 'decent', but first let me? I'm a decent guy, why, because I treat a whore like a whore. I don't deceive her into thinking she's more than that, for she clearly is not. She is spoiled useless, quite possibly for life, but to feed into the illusion that she can be a girlfriend would not only be fooling myself, but it also is not fair on her. She is a whore, and she needs to remember that. Also, my attitude to marriage and commitment is solid. I can't remember the guy who started this thread, but he is clearly a loathsome creature. Instead of speaking out and ending his marriage, before heading off to Thailand, he deceives himself into thinking the reason he says nothing is due to some virtue, when in truth, he is a coward.
I can't honestly say what your women friends are looking for, but let me just say this, women all over the world have a love/hate relationship with needy men. They love them because needy men are less likely to run off, but they also hate them because neediness is a sign of immaturity.

This makes you a decent guy.. spare me
You get from people what you give out. If you treat someone like a "whore" then what will come back is a whore's treatment to you.
Treat a whore with respect (what a really decent guy would do) and you will often find that you get a much different attitude from the girl.
