Giving an advice here without full knowledge of the situaution is difficult.
Also it seems to me that you try a logical approach on an 'emotional' problem, which will therefore not result a in a solution for your problem.
So as for a 'saving face' situation you are right, that highly interrogative questions to reveal the truth will be most likely rejected by Thais and they will not use it in a conflict.
a questioning like this is an embarrassing situation and thus to be avoided.
But you know the 'facts' already, so no need for questioning, right?
If she admitted would it change something on the fact lying to you.
Even not being one of the guys working in the stamping dept. of a post office  I would discontinue the relationship.

I suddenly have a desperate urge to divulge something personal. I don't know what came over me!

A few years ago, I had a girlfriend that I was sponsoring in Pattaya and I began to hear stories that she had a Thai boyfriend. I returned one week early and totally unexpectedly to find him eating kow pot gai in my living room, in his underwear.

Not being able to come up with an immediate response to that question, I presumed my girlfriend had a "live-in" and I had been supporting him also. This did not make me happy so I threw them both out.
But, guess what? She said it was my fault for returning early and not warning her that I was arriving early. In the minds of many of these girls, the best defense is a good offense. That was her "face saving" position.
If you are hearing rumors she is working and your friend has made a date with her, then I would bet she is doing all of the above.
Get rid of her and start anew. Find a new face to save.

Facing saving..vs.. fraud. I am all for the Thai concept of face saving but personally cannot condone any act of lying which is to take something from someone else inappropriately. FRAUD is not face saving!

When anyone lies to another to rip them off no amount of cultural chasm IMHO can explain it away. Thieves should not be tolerated in any society. What..being poor makes it OK to lie and steal? BS!!
When these women lie and get caught and you do the unthinkable ( AKA confront her) suddenly she will tell you that You are the bad guy...... Let's see...you lie...I catch you and mention it....I am a bad man.
Rip off artists should not couch their unethical behaviours in a pillow of cultural misunderstanding.
