Had a conversation the other week with a Thai friend of mine here in my home country. I thought it captured some Thai logic. She has lived here for many years but travels to Thailand often, "happily" married for 20 years and has a market stall on weekends.
Prior to that weekend I had never heard her swear but she was indignant this morning. Each week the guys at the wholesalers were "hitting' on her ( she is 55 yrs old and still has the size 8 figure of a model).
..."Why they think I stupid? Cause I not speak English they think I stupid."
"Arai na? What are you talking about?"
"Man at wholesalers. They think I stupid. All the time they ask what about f-ck? What about f-ck?"
"Well, I guess you could take it as a compliment. They must think you look pretty good."
"Ahhh...that bullsh-t. I say "piss off"...why I gonna f-ck with you? - you got no money! If I gonna f-ck I gonna f-ck somebody who got money. They think I stupid".
Her indignation did not spring from the request for sex but rather the implied insult that she would be foolish enough to "give" it to someone who did not have the financial resources to make it worth her while. Enjoy.

Along the same lines - I have a TG friend who I used to see occasionally for purely social stuff. We'd go to movies, dinner occasionally, if I needed a girl on my arm or she needed a companion for an event, etc. She's got a half decent job,, comes from a decent family (fathers a civil servant) but likes to party. Never anything sexual though she is very good looking and many guys would like to get inside her pants. Anyway:
I was recently in London and she asked me to pick up some stuff for her. I called the number and met this guy. Young, good looking, really nice bloke. He was her boyfriend and she had just dumped him. He was devastated. He couldn't understand it as she refused to give him any reasons. He was looking to me for answers (did she have somebody else, etc). There were tears in his eyes and I felt really bad for him.
I have known her for 4 years and never knew about this guy. When I asked her why she had dumped him as he seemed like a really nice guy, her response was "He's got no money. So why should I waste any more time. Theres no future in it".
I was shocked but at the same time it reinforced my opinion of the Thai mindset.

Is it any different in the western world? A guy with no money, or future does not get any points from women in the Western World either.
Western women are probably even worse. They will not even talk to a guy unless he:
1) Looks Good
2) Is Somewhat Successful (Impressive Job)
3) Is the desired Age
4) Has $$$$ (Nice Car, House, Toys)
5) Good Background
*These are even to get fat ugly girls interested*
At least in Thailand you only have to have $$$. That is the easy part. One can not change being Ugly and Old..lol.

You say that as if ONLY the Thai mindset thought that way - it's the same in the US (or all over the world), just in the west women are less truthful, and pretend that's not the reason.
Personally, I find the Thai straightforward manner and honesty in that regard far more refreshing, and far easier to deal with - as Baquawn pointed out, you can't help being ugly or old, but anyone can make $$$ if they work at it.

What I was refering to is that once you understand the priorities, and that the priorities are money/security/etc, it makes for a far better way in relating to them, in my opinion, than the average farang girl.
Also, please read carefully - I didn't say that I find them more truthful, rather more straightforward in that regard which I find refreshing. I know they lie, and I know that the Thai relationship with what we consider 'the truth' is different from our's - I was only addressing this particular angle.
Oh, and regarding the cute 'chompoo school of knowing it all', I'm not sure how much clearer I can be in the usage of such clarifiers as 'personally', 'in my opinion', etc... It's quite obvious that my statement was *my* opinion, and *my* impression - meaning that others may (quite certainly, will) not agree, or will find fault in everything I find agreeable in Thailand and with Thai girls/people.
It's a YMMV situation, but I also think it has to do with how you relate to the girls, and not assuming or pretending they share the same western values.

Truth is not the issue here dearly gathered. Straightforwardness and clarity is at issue here. It's like Hizbollah protesting Lebanese independence and the lunacy of Ward Churchill. Clarity clarity clarity.
You know were Churhill stands, you know where Hizbolla stands (at least until they get J-Damed by an F-16), and most of all, we SHOULD ALL know were TGs stand much clearer than other women.
