Aww!!! Jackrabbit 'Argento' movies are class... by far the best at this type of Genre...
Of all horror flicks I do like Zombie movies the best.. Don't know why. From the Original 'Night of the Living Dead' right through to the black humor of 'Return of the Living Dead' etc..
But in general I will watch any Horror Flick. I thought the American remake of the original Japanise movie The Ring was v-good bout one of the best I have seen recently...

I LOVED Lucio Fulci's "Zombie". The effects and makeup used was outstanding. They actually looked like true maggotized corpses instead of just a bunch of extras stumbling about in pancake makeup. Not that there's anything wrong with that. 
But I think as far as gore goes in zombie flicks, I think Peter Jackson's "Braindead" (released in the U.S. in a HORRIBLY EDITED form as Dead Alive) has got to rank right up at the top as far as dark humor, so-so acting and blood blood blood. Especially at the end where Lionel goes apeshit with the lawnmower. And you can not forget about the kung-fu priest in the graveyard and the scene where the zombified priest and nurse get it on and havea bouncing baby zombie boy. 
It's a shame Peter Jackson decided to sell out to the Hollywood conglomerate and the mainstream. He made some classics back in his earlier days.

Why is it people dont seem to get the humour in these movies? Like you said the priest and nurse alla baby was brilliant. Give me lots of gore and mutilation.

I laughed my ass off when Lionel started beating the zombie baby in the park and the 2 women looked at him in total disgust, and the drunken homeless guy started cheering him on.
