Animals, whereas many of them engage in bisexual activities, do not have the social burdens and hangups we have (being 'intelligent' creatures), so we establish arbitrary rules to govern our sexuality.
If Jacob, or anyone else, had grown up in a sexually permissible society that has same gender intercourse as the norm, no one would thing anything odd or deviant about it. In fact, there are such cultures in this world.
The judeo-christian culture most of spring from simply indoctrinated certain values in us, and we respond to them, and create justifications and rationales to explain the way we feel. That's all they are, though.
Sexual behavior, sexual preferences, and sexual practices are for the vast part conditioned by external factors, not by genetic factors. This makes them neither deviant, nor normal. It just makes the different from one another.
Sorry your mising my point. Sure social conditioning is very important and indeed as you say taken to an extreme in can produce all maner of unnatural behaviour or distortions to what the overall design is. It is no coincidence that regardless of religion or cuture there is an overwhelming bias towards adam and eve rather than adam and steve- coz that is how it was meant to be! That there is plenty of divergence from this [yet still only a very small percentage] does not change the fact that nature gave us a set of equipment desigend for certain things and fundementally and anus is for exit and a penis and vagina are made to be friends with each other. As I said before the fact that we can derive all manner of pleasure from just about any conceiveable act does not alter the simple basic fact of our design. Also being a higher life form than any other species that ever was on this planet we are equiped with inteligence to be very discerning about such things as sexuality. We do have rules and social norms and they are a natural consequence of inteligent beings find ways to function. All cutures and religions bend or lean towards whatever local conditions prevail at any given time. In china there is even a tribe that has no word for father as the women sleep with womever they like and then move on excluding the birth father from any involvement in the child life- wont go into all the details but the point is that weird and wonderful variations have always been around,
another way to put the whole would be to suggest that if we could for example take a male and femal child have them on a desert island isolated from all of mankind and they had enough live and survive until they were adults [physically much youger in that state] then when they were adults they would discover they have sexual feelings urges desires etc. what are chances that one will say to the other lets do anal!
If they ever even got around to it I would be surprised almost certainly they would discover that certain feelings and responses occured from certain actions and low and behold before long the male would be putting his penis in a vagina- of course on route they may well have noticed that touching kissing sucking etc etc was also quite a stimulant. And that is what nature intended all along coz it would not be long before there would be three on the island- soon after though they would all be in big trouble coz you need variation in the genes so they would all become inbreds and god only knows what would happen then- fiddles and country music?
