Its mostly a matter of your own expectations and attitute. There is a fair chance that you are actually behaving much different when you are in Thailand. Besides, if you visit Gogo's and freelancer places often you'll bump into a certain type of girl and you'll tend to attract the most slutty one as most probably thats what you are looking for, a quick and easy shag. Therefore you are mixing with a very different group of girls than back in farangland.
You always need to take few steps back to analyse the situation before making generic comments about thailand. Most of us are not living in joe-average thailand.

Hi Singlolo and all those here in the Kingdom but not living in 'joe-average Thailand.'

I agree with you to a degree, that it is a matter of your own expectations and attitude and that people who go on holiday to somewhere different and which presents itself to them as strange environments, have no time to construct the necessary connections between their new environments and to their new circumstances and themselves, to be guided by their perceptions of what is real here and what is not, and so, some tend to feel and behave like a fish out of water.

People who live here, from abroad, begin to make those connections after some time and so pass through a period of settling down and adjusting to their new home and friends.

I can't follow the logic of what you say about Gogo ladies or freelancers being a certain type of girl. but then maybe you have not allowed yourself the opportunity to visit any of these paces.

If you had, you would know that they are made up of many different sorts of people from most strata of society and, yes, a few may be slutty, if you care to use the expression, but the majority of ladies who find themselves in these segments of society's work, are not and never will be.

Yes, I do visit Go-Go bars from time to time and even Freelancer venues and I find that I am not "mixing with a very different group of girls than back in farangland."

People are people, wherever you find them and whatever they do.

A bishop may be a saint, for all I know. And the next high priest a paedofile, both in the same strata of society.

And if you care to step out of your circle of friends and acquaintances in your world, you will pleasantly find all sorts of wonderful people from a very wide range of backgrounds and who enjoy all sorts of interests and joys in life.

Not everyone is interested in nor chasing after the"quick and easy shag".

I find that whenever I take a few steps back here in Thailand, I run the risk of stepping on a Soi Dog or falling down a 10 metre drain hole that has had no cover nor perimeter fencing around it.

But to be serious, you are right. It is always a good idea to take a few moments, if not hours to think about what one is doing or even writing.

As for generic comments, I think we can all take them with a pinch of salt.

Have a good day, in or out of your non-joe-average Thailand.

This is obviously my own standpoint and I don't expect it to reach common sense approval. Take it as it is, an opinion from someone who has been around for sometime and has some experience to share.

Cheers

This is a sensible attitude.

But do I understand correctly that the writer means that his standpoint does not reach a level of common sense or that in expressing his opinion, that it would not be met by any member's common sense approval ?

Just wondering.
