scusey my ignorance, but not sure why all the 9's, I thought the 8's was 'asia' as a whole, or is it just chinese and the 9's are Thai lucky numbers ??

Hey guys,
I do think this is a little off topic! I shall attempt to bring it back on topic.
Back in the late seventies while living in Fkt Germany, my American Soldier fried had a CB in his van... Guess it's a US thingy.. Breaker, breaker good buddy and all that crap!!
Anyway, returning from Pubs and Clubs in the wee hours, he was in constand contact with (lets call her Snow Angel) her voice was so sexy, but she was no angel... If you know what I mean...pant, pant, pant..
This went on for many weeks, finally he was so captivated with her sexy voice, and her promises of wild pleasures, he arranged to met her at her appartment....
He did not tell me until afterwards, thank f_ck...
He arrived and rang the door bell, she said she could not come down to let him in so she pressed the buzzer, he went up to the third floor and saw an open door...
He stepped eagerly inside and was greeted (no the word is confronted!) by this amazing blob of flesh, Sitting or shall we say stranded on the couch in what can only be described as a very large flowery cotton dressing gown. Get the picture!!!
Needless to say, my buddy, was not impressed.
As much as he wanted to leave that stinking place, she said she was too fat to clenn it correctly, he felt obliged at least to stay for a while...
She (Snow Angel) told him that she could not leave the appartment because of her weight (it's medical she told him!) problems and her only link to the outside was her CB radio...
Her hisband was in the military, and he was away most of the time, (I bet he voulanteered for everything) and she was very lonely...
The moral of this story is, don't believe all you read, and also don't believe all you hear...

NM, yes the '9' is considered a lucky number for Thais.
If new notes or lottery tickets are issued, the ones with 9 in it (and especially ending on '9') are the most popular.

Both 9s and 8s are good numbers to the Chinese. Ý9s are for long life and 8s for good fortune.

Your story reminds me of all the jokes about who is at the other end of the 1-900 phone sex numbers. ÝSnow Angel should have gotten her own 900 number and make a fortune "sitting" at home talking.

The number 9 in china sounds similar to the sound (but different character) when you say long, hence long life, but is not really used that much.
The number 8 'ba' sounds like the word rich 'fa' which must be lucky if you are or you might need to be lucky to get rich.
