interesting start of an old thread. can't say as I have ever been posessed to "choke the chicken" while listening to someone else drill away next door. I don't like to increase animosity with my neighbors. I've usually been glad people are having a good time. I have no objection to hearing a woman moan in pleasure no matter what I'm doing. I agree whole-heartedly, although pleased, I also have admiration for two people who can still find it within themselves to get it on together whilst at the same time dodging the hand-grenades.
I think it must be within the majority of people's experience to have come across ( hopefully not in a literal sense ! ) at some time in their lives both men and women who disapprove of sexual expression in any form, of enjoyment, of love, of Life itself................... people who really disapprove, sadly, of their own existence and who have somehow found themselves at their particular stage in their lives as somehow disapproving of their very own existence....and they express this in many and varied, sometimes twisted and inverted, shielded ways.
We've all heard, witnessed and read a few of these expressions, even on this forum, which at times gives it an additional twist.
What to me is a personal joy, is to come across someone who is, in unassuming and unconscious humility, full of the deep generosity and ceaseless curiousity that pervades the fathomless bounds of the questing human spirit, who is able to express themselves amply, in positively critical and discerning ways, who is aware and who is not afraid to admit it, that they don't know a fraction of what the world is about and who is not ready to make split-second assumptions about people or things, who can take the rough with the smooth, see others' and their own limitations, adjust and adadpt themselves to new and changing situations, forthrightly condemn instances of negativity, abuse, exploitation or destructiveness in their immediate environment and comunity and yet rejoice in the glorious moments of their lives and savour each and every one.
Such men and women I have been proud to know.
Some are on this forum.
Others not.
What is sad to see is self-disgust in anyone,eating away their own lives.
But returing to the instances in which the rhythm and the dance of the lives of others, conducted semi-privately, impinges on one's own path or time, I must admit that attempting to complete a thesis within a given dead-line whilst at the same time being surrounded by a week-long orgy, does measure as one of those moments in your life when you catch yourself saying, 'Enough is enough ! '.
