To live in the past or the present, this is the question.
Well, I much prefer the present and what the future has to offer us. The change in the social services of these Thai girls has come about by many aspects of society and culture changing. This country has changed significantly over the last 20 years, how the blindest beggar can expect there not be to changes across the entire population.
I would hesitate to guess that the originator of this thread is around the 60yo age group. This age group tends to want to live in the past rather than the present and constantly dwells on how good things were in “the good old days”.
Well, get with the present and the future old timer, we cannot go back, only forward. I suggest you buy a horse and cart and go live in Lampang if it all gets too much for you.

With wisdom like you both express so eloquently, it is no wonder the girls come to us older guys for some real love, care and affection. The number of times a girl wants to feel good and does not get it from the ram bam thankyou mam young stud is overwhelming. But of course you gents would never hear or understand that, because they only tell you what you want to hear, right !!
I remember a very wise statement from my father “everyone was young once” just remember your time is coming and it does come around so much quicker every year.
I wonder just how many of you young fellows actually think about the other side of the coin and actually care about the bg’s predicament?
I guess that with inexperience comes naivety. Everyone in every age group of every look, race and religion gets taken for the odd ride from every girl of any other age, look, race and religion. Even one of the younger studs here has been led astray by a wayward girlfriend, no great drama, happens too many times. But to pretend to be so much better than most, above “all” and deserving of a better “class” is just setting oneself up for a tumble.
Thai Bar Girls at the end of the day are doing a job, doing something to earn a quid and satisfying a demand. But the majority are still human, very kind and decent people. Treat them accordingly, regardless of past and present attitudes and modern technology changing these attitudes, we still get extremely satisfied here. Far more than any other country on this glorious planet.

I look at it as a question of service, the BG has chosen for whatever reason to enter a service industry. The so called old timers are probably noticing what I've noticed over the years, with a few notable exceptions service is crap.
The bar scene has changed and there is no point in lamenting it, as long as the majority are prepared to accept substandard service and over pay for it things can only get worse. The old scene of full on gogo dancers who actually used to have big fun with the punters has gone, it's big, big, fast money for them now and leaves no time for service, customer satisfaction or God forbid FUN.
Having said all that every now and then you will still find a BG with pride in her work and a determination to ensure you have a great time with her, so enjoy it when you find it.

I got the ring the bell treatment from my regular two tours ago when her bar was quiet.
I got a little too comfortable, had too many beers, was entertaining a couple of mates & my final bar bill was horrendous....many thousands - woops.
That was a hard lesson, but in hindsight, this was expected of her as a good employee. Strangely, she seemed a little angry with me for being such a 'patsy', and told me later "next time one beer for you, lady drink for me, & my two sisters (read roommates)...no more, then we go XXX's bar (my regular haunt) "
To be cynical, I guess this means more money for her, but it was good advice, so we now have the occasional 'greedy girl / Cheap Charlie act' going on in her bar. To be cynical once again, I guess this keeps her friends from trying to steal her farang ATM.
When things are quiet the TBG's are under a lot of pressure to drain the ATM, but I think many have the decency not to over do it.

Bingo. Watch the eyes of the beer bar girls next time someone is throwing the baht around, ringing the bell and carrying on...the one thing you won't see there is "respect". Your behaviour reminded her of the a-hole ex-hubby who pissed away his wages at the local bar and village brothel and eventually landed her in her new career as a bar girl !!
I'd take it as a compliment that she sees you as long term and regular enough to be annoyed at how her "partner" is wasting the "family" budget. Enjoy.

I jog from soi 17 to soi 1 2nd road, and back along beach road.
I get back alot of the baht I used to stupidly part with on ringing bells drinks.

It takes time to see the other side of these girls.
Tourists that are here for a brief holiday and those travelling just for sex, will very possibly never see this and that is unfortunate.
Likewise the new expats with all the experience in the world, will also be ignorant of this phenomina until they settle down and start to think for themselves.

Actually...wrong...I can understand your reasons for that assumption, but quite wrong.
It's more likely due to reasons I would never discuss around here and the fact that I would usually spent much more of my time with non P4P.
There are still gems to be found, but at the end of the day, the girls are far more mercenary than they were 15 years ago, far more girls that would only go ST, frankly I've never done ST, no desire, if the girls wants to be a whore 100%, then I'm not interested, probably due to the fact that my sex life is not limited to P4P. The girls I do pay are because I wanna be with that girl and I have to understand that is the way it is and her choice. It is then my choice as to whether I want to pay that girl or not.
I have one 'friend' who used to be in P4P, if I went with her then I paid, now she is out of that game, hopefully forever in her case, now when we sleep together there is no way I would pay her, and in fairness no way she would ever ask.
I have not and hopefully never will pay for sex anywhere else other than Thailand.

I think it comes down to the fact that ALL old timers always reminesce over 'the good old days' - but in the words of Billy Joel "...Cause the good old days weren't always good, And tomorrow ain't as bad as it seems" (Keeping the Faith). People tend to forget, conveniently, all the bad things about those good old days...
Personally, I feel that we live in better times NOW, than at any times before, and that the future will be even better still... It's all about attitude, and being able to configure your life to your liking -- and not living in the past.
