Good post there griffin
I cringe when I see some behaviour paterns of other Brits, loud and disrespectful.
If there is one single piece of advise I would put up on this thread it would be to temper some normal western ways of being loud and pushy. Most SEA countries don't respond well to to those ways.

racism exists here but it is very on the DL... the areas of the 'races' are sometimes, from what I have noticed anyhow, very segregated... ie, I'm told of a 'black section' (Nigerians mainly), apparently there's an 'Indian/Middle Eastern' section.... Then there's the general 'farang' section which can be any of the races, more frequently caucasians, and Asians (Japanese especially)... Granted I am still a newbie, but this is what I've noticed....
Most people that are victims of such racism probably arent even aware... I've been with many BG's who tell me to go slow or if they say stop, to stop, because they usually only go with 'Japanese' men, who THEY say have 'little dicks', and they tell me they usually dont go with caucasians or blacks.... Then again, I know many bar girls who only like caucasians (be it for money or dick size, im assuming money).... I've been with some who dont like Indians or blacks.... I've never met one who doesnt like a rich Japanese guy (best of both worlds, rich and a small dick)....
It can go any way, but it's not IN YOUR FACE or you won't hear racial slurs or dirty looks slung at you...

kman that is true in the bar scene but i was more referring to the society in general as thailand does not only defines itself through the narrow farang oriented night scene. in the farang night scene you will sure find less racism then in the rest of society - it is their job to cater to foreigners so theys won't be that bluntly racist as may be some normal 'thais'. nevertheless even there behave even better than you would in your home country.

My "attitude toward women, has givin me the privlege to be with many "non-working" women. many races, many classes, many places.. they're all diffrent.
I really dont have a sour attitude toward women.
I have plenty, and dont need to come to LOS for the girls..

I may be a lil diffrent in my thinking because ive been discriminated against, and ive been a racist at times myself.
I like to think of myself as an "individual" totally diffrent in heart/and thinking from any other..
bein catagorized and no being able to separate yourself from someone prior is debilitating...
the term "all farangs" rings a bit..
to most thais im jus a black forigner.
to thai working girls,, im a black customer. etc..
sit down with a person for a min, then im guy from the states..
the guy that wears the hat backwerds etc....
dont spend enuff,, the guy thats a cheap charlie..
I love girls, i dont disrespect them, but my use of words and phrases are derogatory.. but never in person.
so to all,, dont be offended when i use the term bitch, its jus a figure of speech....
same as the term ape, and primitive are used by some non-blacks as descriptions of black mens behaviour...
Ive live in oppression all my life, what makes you think i wasnt use to it bye now.

I find it makes things more interesting for me when I invent a new identity with almost every bargirl. Keeps the brain sharp and keeps boredom away in the face of those predictable questions they ask you. For instance just last Friday, I was a retired member of the Dubai Skydiving Team who was in town to judge a beauty pageant of female skydivers. The funny part is when the girls nod like they're totally in tune with what youre saying.
