... and many are not. Of course, you know this, and you admit that the ones you go with for 500/1000 are older BGs. Many, many, many of them are not GTG for 500/1000.

IMHO 3K to 5K is way way over the top.
When I read about guys wanting to pay these kind of prices. I always think they don't know the range of prices punters pay in Thailand. I give them the low end because there are more then enough guys who will tell them about the high prices they pay and try to justify their actions by denigrating the quality of the women I go with. It's true I go with the older BG who have high mileage on their pussies and some no longer have that tight sport suspension that many find highly desirable. Then again I don't have to deal with the high depreciation you run into with the new models as soon as you take them of the lot.
