My tgf is pure Chinese. She spent the past weekend with her exteneded family celebrating Chinese New Year. Since it important for her, I wanted to do something special. Any ideas?

Luckily, I did that today and not yesterday or tommorrow. I guess her family is talking alot about us and making sure shes been a good girl. They worry that she will lose her culture, so I want to do something sensitive to score points with them.

If they have Gau where you are then buy some. I am not sure if that is traditionaly what they eat for Chinese New Year there. It usually is. Just make sure if you do, purchase the soft-sticky type not the hardened dry Gau as it taste's crappy like that. Also if you can celebrate with her family that may not be a bad idea and Smegma made a good suggestion. Good Luck

Red envelop is usually given by elder to their younger generation (e.g. son, daughter, niece, etc...) One thing chinese love is 24K gold. And many jewerly shop will have golden roost ( as this year is year of rooster) or golden medallion with their family name.
