I have just been reading in the Phuket Gazette that many hotels on the island are now paying their staff 1/2 wages due to the lack of customers staying in the hotels.
Does this mean that the economic down turn for these unfortunate folk will result in more P4P ladies?
Will there be a higher chance of getting off with your pretty maid when she comes to clean the room in the morning?
Will the snooty receptionist with the hot boobs and legs be more inclined to give you a more personal service...
Anyone out there experienced an upturn in this new and exciting market developement?

One of the saddest things I saw in Patong immediately after the tsunami was one of the older maids from my pre-tsunami hotel (which was pretty much wrecked by the waves) done up to the nines and working a bar in Tiger - she was no bar 'girl'. : (

i think no most girls and are smart enough to understand that the people maybe be back in nov dec this year so they either go to Bangkok or Pattya. Before they took rounds to south border town but when the muslims blow everything up they do not go there. Phuket is to much money to stay and have nobody to pay for you. I think it will be less of girls just comming there but the once that always are there year after year will be there they have their sponsors paying them more money now then ever is my guess.

I couldn't agree more. I never can understand what the allure is in turning a poor women working 10-12 hours a day in a menial job to a life as a whore by waving big money in their face. Do guys really go home and brag to their buddies, look what I did to this maid?
Many of these women are single moms trying to earn an honest living with dignity and respect. Some sad f***ers on this forum........

Totally agree with Dotcom and BigDUSA. There are more than enough ladies for the punters in the bars and massage parlours. Hitting on your room maids who are working long hours for peanuts is about as low as you can go.
Sick as the original post is, it is very much on par with what I've come to expect from Basher, judging by some of his ealier posts (e.g. the videotape thread).

Same feeling here... plus I have strong doubts about a thai upcountry maid's life beeing a decent one. Hooker doesn't quite ring like paradise but could hardly be worse than working 6 days a week 10 to 12 hours for 4 or 5 thousand baht a month.
I have yet to meet (or remember) a maid I'd like to do but wouldn't feel any guilt offering her a thousand or two.
