I am interested in some more insights on this. My GF will be applying for one. Here are the pros and cons;
PROS:
Not 21, she is 29
100% Thai and very light skinned
Tall and erect with an air of self-confidence, very proper
3 years as govt. teacher
5 years as Royal Thai Police officer
Family is rich and owns alot of land
Can have as much money as she needs infused into her bank account
CONS
No property in her name
6000 baht/month
She is going to apply for next Feb or March. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

One, have her get property if possible. This creates a tie to Thailand.
Is she still employed? If so stay so, this creates a tie to Thailand.
A letter of invitation from you will also help.

No experience in the United states but In the schengen states
1.A letter of invitation from your goodself
2.person coming dont have to have any money if you take full responsibility for them and arrange medical insurance,or pay any bills occuring during the duration of their stay.
3 Take full responsibility said person will return before the designated time
4. after they have been back in thailand 3 mths you can apply again.
If you trust the girl a piece of piss really
I know the states is slightly different but China sailor is spot on with letter of invitation.
I got a mate to help me who had done it before
basically made a nice headed letter with a bit of grovel
So if you know anyone who has done this with success lately buy them a few beers.
along the lines ms xxxx will be coming to xxxx for the sole purpose of a holiday, ms xxxx will not be a burden to the xxxx state and you take full responsibility for ms xxxx for the duration of her stay and to ensure ms xxxx returns to thailand before the visa runs out.
Most embassys (town hall) have forms so you can invite someone,its international law.
I filled it in sent it off with an open round ticket and covering letter by DHL,and some pocket money !!!
The rest depends how tg does at the embassy in bangkok, mine got asked if I was bringing her into prostitution in the west, answer the questions right and bobs your uncle fannies your aunt within a week your picking her up at the airport.
its a formality here (again I know usa is stronger,but they really need grounds to refuse ) once they get one
its always easyon the next one cause she went back on time.
It can only get refused for a stupid reason if you have a house where she can stay and can provide i.e have income it should be ok. if it gets refused try again.
Lastly enjoy just dont get her banged up, I did bit of a problem on a tourist visa that. Also 5 years down the road the bitch is still here and I have my computer being taken over by my son so I had to buy a f***ing labtop

understand that - does not mean not to try and make a good presentation. invitation letter on bog paper will get kicked out in schengen countrys too.
does no one get tourist visas to the states ?

Forgett the EU when it come USA visa they are tuff to the bone. If she worked that much in the Police she must know some one that work or is closer to the Embassy then you? Land in her name and and steady income will prove the most. They do not want more Thai girls in USA right now. What ever you tell them SHE IS THERE TO LEAVE YOU AND ASK FOR A USA VISA thats their idea of Thai Girls. She could go to a Tour first time or you could take her to trips around Asia and EU before going to USA that will look better in the passport.

Whats love got to do with it, I dont mean it quite like that, we are still happy togeather. More a sarcastic warning where tourist visas can lead for anyone contemplating.
Reading this post got me thinking to how different I felt then than now, but still wouldn;t change anything.
i've no regrets I did it my way.
