I remember reading that micheal douglas had to go to sex therapy becuase he was addicted to SEX
he was clinically diagnosed as a sex addict.
so was eric banet who was married to haley berry
so I was thinking wow, ok drugs addicts sure hooked on cocain, herion, pain killers alcohol and these people seek treatment.. BUT SEX!!
destroying marriages, unfaithful relationships, cant hold a relationship, becuase you seek a different woman everytime.. ADDICTED TO SEX!!

Guys who live in LOS long term, do generally cut down from 1 or 2 p4Ps per day to a more realistic 2 or 3 per week, after a few years - and I daresay, even if you lived back in Farangland, and your wife was young, pretty, under 50kgs, and didnt nag, have headaches, etc etc, you probably would line up as often !
Thailand offers guys a chance to live out a fantasy or three, - so full marks for guys who take the initial plunge, and come here.
I'm sure we all know of guys back in our Native countries, who have a real old hag for a wife/girlfriend, who would have an absolute ball in LOS - but for one reason or another, wont take the plunge, and buy an air ticket -
As the saying goes "we are here for a good time, - Not a long time " - So I think all the Guys who went out and brought their first ticket to Bangkok, deserve a pat on the back, I dont think they / we are sex addicts, - and unlike our sad pals stuck back home with the ugly wife, the mortgage, the 9 to 5 job... we at least wont die wondering... what if ??!

Sex Addicts? What a crazy idea. I lived in San Francisco for over a year and used to see ads in the newspaper, "Are you addicted to sex? We can help therapize you" or whatever. I used to think, this fruity town, what are those dykes trying to do to us--give the men complexes so they can have all the women for themselves?!
But what else do you expect from a society where men and women are both competing for the same roles and positions?
Poor guys back there are so lucky to get themselves to give themselves a hj, it's so impossible to get the wife to blow you decently after the initial romance has faded etc, and anal---forget it, bud... you'd better try to get her loaded. Or better yet take a lot of drugs yourself to numb the incessant agony of sexual frustration. No wonder people go nuts... imagine themselves "sex addicts"... My definition for it would be rather: desperate men.
If a big movie star like Michael Douglas, whom I imagine could have lots of women more or less free right, destroys happy relationships out of his need for constant sex and constant sex variety... then maybe he does have to sort himself out ----though I think if he tries to sort himself out in that society he'll just get more confused! There's lots of guys right here on the other hand who maintain a longterm relationship while still playing a bit. Nothing gets destroyed except the guy's ego who once might have thought he was something more than human.
tpe - I'd agree with you. After some time here, people should be able not only to indulge in fantasy but to sort out the differences between fantasy and less-fantasy.

Don't we stick the label of addiction only when we are habituated to a practice that is normally considered taboo in society ? Thus habitual indulgence in drugs, smoke, drinks, sex is addiction. But habitual lunch, sleep, work in the office, praying, hanging out with friends is not. Sure addiction arises when the indulgence is in anything that is considered harmful to health. Thus drinks, smoke, drugs are all harmful to health, while sex harms our relationship and psyche if we can't handle its complexities. But so are so many of our daily consumption articles, like fats, salt, sugar. Who has heard of any famous star being addicted to cheese? Or who bothers if anyone cannot do without tea in the afternoon? All this is addiction.
I suspect we perverts are indeed addicted -- not to sex but to P4P and all its different forms of perversion. It's not simply about sex. More strength to your john little.

I knew a true Nympho in LA once. She did not work and collected disability because she could not get too far from her vibrator. Seriously, the only time she did not use it was when she was having sex.
The local social welfare agency decided that she was a bonified sex addict and was therefore unable to hold employment (hence the disability).
When any one of us gets that far along, then we are sex addicts. As for Michael (I need another excuse) Douglas, he was just trying to avoid bad press and keep Catherine Zeta Jones in his bed...

I think you are on to something here.
In the west people pity, disrespect or loathe someone who drinks too much for example.
But if s/he works 12 hours a day he is revered. S/he's just addicted to work, or using it to escape other stuff s/he would rather not deal with.
I worked once for a deputy minister who was home working at 9pm on a Sat. night while her husband was upstairs asleep. Of course everyone was in awe of "how hard she worked". I thought she was sick.

Re the proffessors/Theories etc - recall once running into a "scholar' of such things - he told me he had a theory, thesis published etc, and the key part was, when you were in Nana,Soi 7 etc - and you spotted a P4P that really did it for you - you walked over to her, then took the girl sitting beside her ! I myself do not care if this is a medical, psychological, upbringing problem or what. I love to just have sex with many different women.
Sometimes you get a real honey with a great pouch and she can use those muscles to please you and of course her, its great, its a natural thing. Why would you want to keep a full bag of cream, get rid of it, will be replaced in a couple of hours or less.
And why stick it into one woman over here in LOS, just like buying a car. First you have a look at the body and if the price is OK you get it, when your desire for that car goes, you trade it in for another model.
I will not try and do a self examination on myself regarding my sexual drive, I have it and do not want some bloody Doctor or psych telling me, " Now take these pills and come to this therapy session so we can take away your sexual drive".
