What would be your advise for a bar to have a drink on a first meeting with a supposedly "non-working" girl, e.g. student, etc.. having in mind that they hate bar girls and that you are supposed to...

If it's an early rendezvous, then I'd pick a bar in a nice hotel. A drink on the terrace of the Oriential Hotel, especially around or just after, sunset, can be nice. If it's later then choose one of the more hi-so type places. If she's not the hi-so type, then ask her to suggest a place.

There is a bar in the Ambassador that is not bad.. it is convenient as near BTS and many of the hotels you might stay at.
Personally, I think that meeting a "regular" Thai girl in any bar is a mistake. Consider meeting at Starbucks (a good location is the one at Central at Chitlom near BTS).
Most regular Thai girls (RTGs) do not drink or if they do they won't drink the first time they meet you. You don't want to give them the impression that you are a boozer either as most do not like that either.

may i suggest the Huntsman Pub at the Landmark!! been there once with some fellow members and i didn't see much "working Gals " around!!
nice and cosy, serves light snacks, finger food to dinner!! and there's a live band later in the nite to lift up the tempo!!
and the Guinness Draft on tap, thick and creamy.....yum yum!!!

Agree, the Huntsman Club is a good one for that. It was the first bar I was ever in with BK, although we never saw each other that night!
Any of the pub-style places is also good, for example The Londoner.

I always think a nice restaurant is a safe bet, as you will be eating you can also have a drink without looking like you're a serious boozer, even offer her a glass of wine perhaps.

I have to agree with Oaktoad. If the girl is not a working girl, she may not even drink or care to go to a bar. Meeting her at Starbuck or a cafe to have coffee or tea would be a better first meeting and impression.

Hi mate. Look, all the TGs love to eat....I mean to eat a lot. Thus, a pub that offers good food and spirits could be a good choice. I may suggest any Irish Pub (Shenanigans, O'Reillys, etc.) or the Londoners Pub (Suk. Soi 33). After some dinner you can take few drinks enjoying live music. Donīt worry about freelancers and bar girls. Those are not common "customers" at these places. Have fun!

My preference is to have a nice relaxing dinner and some wine or drink with the meal.I think this helps to put the lady at ease and is less "threatening" than going to a bar. If things flow well then some dancing and drinks might be in order after dinner.
Just my preference and experience.
I once met a lady who worked at the hotel I used to frequent.She rebuffed my invitations for a drink on several occaisions but accepted an invitation to dinner. Guess what-she had drinks before , during and after the meal!
